CHAPTER 7
“How long have you been like that.” He asked but Aurora didn’t want to answer him. She felt greatly offended by his initial words and she was trying hard to hold back her tears. The whole world rejected her and even her true mate called her a dumb wolf. She couldn’t help but feel like there was no place for her in the world.
She quickly packed up and wanted to leave but Lucas had other ideas.
“I apologize for my roughness, earlier.” He said. He has never in his life gotten to apologize to someone lower than him. This was his first time and it took him a lot of courage to do so.
Aurora stopped on her tracks and looked at him. She was partly scared and still wanted to leave, but her naivety made her take his words to heart.
She still nodded but knocked on the door. The men opened up the door for her and walked out, leaving Lucas alone.
“Finished already?” the guard who led her there jested. She rubbed her neck and didn’t act like she heard them. After all, she was used to it.
The guard escorted her out of dungeon and Aurora exhaled deeply before hurrying to the kitchen. However, Jayden saw her on the way.
“Aurora?” He called and she almost froze when she saw him. She walked up to him and bowed. Jayden waved his hand and gestured for her to rise up.
“How was the encounter?” He asked.
(It was awful. He almost killed me.) she described. Jayden raised a brow but he wasn’t really surprised when Aurora mentioned Lucas almost killing her. For someone who was a criminal in the past, killing the maid that served him food wasn’t a surprise.
He noticed something red on Aurora’s neck and checked it out by raising her white hair away from it.
This revealed the bruise on her neck and he felt slightly angry.
“Oooh. Sorry about that. I can assign another person to take the mission if it’s too life threatening for you.” Jayden said with care in his voice, but to his surprise, Aurora refused.
She thought of it as a challenge, and this being her very first mission, she wasn’t willing to run away from it, or let it go. Another reason was that she didn’t want to be seen as someone who couldn’t even do a mission as simple as serving a criminal food every day.
(It’s alright, Alpha Supreme. This is nothing.) She said as she covered the bruise with her hair, although the bruise was more obvious at the front of her neck.
“Hmm. Come into my office later and describe your encounter with him in full. I would like to hear what transpired between you two.” He said. Aurora nodded before bowing and walking back to towards the castle’s kitchen where she worked.
Jayden’s eyes followed her as she left his sight, partly admiring her beauty and partly wondering what had happened between her and his old acquaintance.
“Are you sure that you can trust her?” A voice behind him muttered. It was hoarse and deep, like from an old man.
“Well, I think we can. After all, she just a dumb Beta.” Jayden said as his face turned cold on hearing the voice. The voice came from an old man who was wearing a black robe all through. Even in his old age, the man seemed strong and fit, not just that, he gave off a threatening vibe. No Beta would want to fight this man and only very few Alpha’s could stand a chance against him, as he was no longer on the level of just any Alpha and was about to become an Ultima.
“Do not underestimate women, Jayden. She might be voiceless but just as you said, she’s definitely intelligent.” The old man warned him. Jayden walked forward and the old man walked by his side. His steps were so smooth that even with a werewolf’s keen hearing, they could barely hear his footsteps.
“I know that girl, Father. She’s so innocent and naïve that she probably can’t even harm a deer. She’s more useful here than on the frontlines.” he returned. The old man sighed.
“Just be careful. You never know who’s plotting against you. And if I remember correctly, Lucas is a strong Alpha who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. Putting them together can end up backfiring against you. He could take advantage of that naivety and turn her against you.” He forewarned but Jayden smirked.
“Well, he might have the smarts, but I have an Ultima.”
“Half Ultima, mind you.” His father corrected before sighing, “Well, I have warned you. The sheep that you see now, can turn into a dangerous predator if made into one.” He warned before disappearing into nothingness. Jayden was used to this and he sighed.
“I’ll just wait for her report first.” He muttered before walking to his chambers, there he met a few young ladies, lying half naked. Their slender bodies and sexiness would make an average man’s nose bleed.
The stood up and walked to Jayden to take of his clothes.
“Welcome back, Alpha Supreme.” both of them greeted in unison.
“Hmmm.” Jayden answered as he stretched his arms for his concubines to help undress him. He then walked to the hot bath in the middle of his quarters before immersing himself into it before coming out and resting his arms on the rims.
“Haaaaa...” He exhaled as one of the women massaged his stiff and muscular shoulders while the other fed him with grapes.
Meanwhile, Lucas looked through the small window made for him and stared at the crescent moon while contemplating a lot of things. His mind was on the maid who visited him today.
‘It’s no wonder we’re paired together. She’s probably the only other person who understands my pain.’ Lucas thought as he remembered vividly, the contemptuous eyes of the guards. Eyes filled with hatred and disgust, same eyes that looked at him over twenty years ago.
