CHAPTER 2
“Hey. I already told you not to put the loads in there, you’ll ruin them. Also, I thought I asked the two of you to keep in mind that Mr. Alandor is a special customer of ours and must be treated specially…" The supervisor of the castle’s kitchen instructed two maidens as she waved her spoon around and made a big fuss. She was still in the middle of doing this when Aurora silently opened the door. She quietly snuck in and was on her way to the kitchen but she could never escape the head cook’s keen senses. She wasn’t the head cook for nothing after all.
“And do you think you can just sneak into the kitchen without my notice?” She said sternly. Aurora froze and slowly turned her head to look at her before putting her hands together and bowing.
“Huh? You think an apology can save you?” She growled and walked to Aurora while dismissing the other two, “Where the hell did you go to? What is wrong with you? You cannot just leave your duty and go watch a bunch of extremely handsome young warriors.” She complained.
“Pfft. Even the dumb wolf has fantasies of her own.” One of the girls the head cook scolded whispered and they both began laughing. However, this put a little bit of a sad look on Aurora’s face. Although she was used to people saying horrible things about her, the feeling wasn’t all that good.
The head cook looked at those two girls who were laughing with a piercing gaze, causing them to stop their laughing and straighten up their backs, like soldiers.
“And who gave you two the authority to speak?! I thought I dismissed your asses. What are you still doing’ here?” She said angrily. The two girls didn’t say anything and they kept their mouths mute.
“Now, DISAPPEAR.” With a single word from the head cook, they scampered away to their posts.
After this, she turned to look at Aurora, who still had a pleading look on her face. Because of how short she was and how tall Aurora was, she had to look up to her. Knowing Aurora was also a Beta, she was actually scared of the latter, but she needed to put up a front, or else her subjects would disrespect her. Her wooden spoon was also what gave her confidence. When she holds it, it’s like she’s holding a staff of command.
“As for you, I had a job for you but you were nowhere to be seen. Have you cleaned the dishes? No. Have you served the Alpha’s loyal subjects? No. Yet you went ahead to go watch the warriors come back. If you want to do them a good service, cook them a good dish. Now GO!” She scolded and Aurora bowed before scurrying into the kitchen.
***********
It was on a working morning and also the time for the trial of Alpha Lucas. Inside the castle, Alpha Lucas’s hands were tied and there were two other strong men walking on both his sides. Their looks were stern while Lucas’s look was solemn. However, if one looked closely, one would find a small, bone chilling smile etched across his face.
They passed through a big wide hallway. There were lots of pictures of all the past Alpha’s arranged according to their time on the both walls. He looked at one of them and it happened to be one that he admired the most. The man after all, was his mentor, Alpha Salador. He was known for his ferocity but nevertheless, was still a good Alpha. Lucas wished to have own picture on these walls one day. However, that day didn’t seem like it was going to come, as he was headed towards the council of Alphas to pass him judgment for his crimes.
Lucas and the men reached the front of a large door and Lucas sighed.
“Such is life.” He muttered before the door opened up and he walked in. He looked around and he could see about eleven chairs arranged side by side to form a slight curve. The chairs were large and exquisitely designed. On the chairs were different symbols. Each of the symbols represented a different pack. Due to the Blood Moon Kingdom being very big, it was actually multiple packs banding together to form one big and formidable kingdom.
Normally, wolf packs wouldn’t band together and instead… they would usually have their own territories and develop their strengths individually. However, this began to change due to a catastrophic event which forced all the eleven packs to band together to form one big pack. It was the supreme Alphas of these individual packs that made up the Council of Alphas. Meanwhile, they all had a leader… a king. An Alpha of Alphas, and that was Jayden. He too was seated in the middle and his throne looked a bit grander than the other thrones. Surrounding those eleven main seats, were many others, each for the eleven strongest Alphas of each of the packs.
One of the Betas in the Council Chamber yelled out loud and began to introduce the Alphas and their individual packs.
“Behold… I bring to you the council of Alphas,” He said and faced the seat on the far right, “Alpha Sadie of the Sterling Hide Pack, Alpha Bane of the Moon Dawn pack, Alpha Sylvester of the Crescent moon pack, Alpha Kyle of the Wolf Blood pack, Alpha Aster of the Black Night pack, Alpha Bowlin of the Silver claw pack, Alpha Owen of the moon gaze pack, Alpha Meredith of the Sapphire howl pack, Alpha Claudia of the Bright Dusk pack, Alpha Shade of the Shadow Fang pack…” He introduced them all before moving to the man sitting in the middle of them all.
“The supreme Alpha of this kingdom, the Apex of all the predators, the king among Kings… Behold, our king, Alpha Jayden… Alpha and King of the Blood Moon pack.” He introduced and bowed. So did the other Alpha’s in the chamber as they all respected Jayden. The latter nodded with satisfaction and placed his shoulder on the table in front of him.
“Now… let us begin the trial.” He declared.
