The words slammed into my chest like a physical blow.
I waited for him to laugh, and to say that he didn’t mean it. But Landon stared at me with an unreadable expression on his face.
“No, you’re not going to do that.” My voice came out quieter than I’d expected. “You know how I feel about this job and you’re not going to threaten me with it.”
Landon leaned forward and rested his elbow on the desk. “I’m not threatening you, Abby. I’m just showing you how desperate I am to keep you in the team.”
I let out a humorless laugh. “You’re unbelievable. And to think that I actually came here to fix things,” I said with a hint of regret in my voice. “You’re the cause of everything, and until you stop being an asshole, I don’t think we can fix our relationship.”
