HAYLEY Banging noise blasted through the entire building as people danced to the music. Thane led Taylor away the moment we entered the club, leaving me to survive the night alone. Envy clawed at my guts. F*ck! I should not be envious of my friend. It was damn obvious how much Thane loved her. He wasn't using her for his gains. Unlike someone. I waddled through the crowd towards the counter. “Two shots, please.” The bartender asked no questions as he poured them for me. Good. I was expecting that he would want to engage me in some sort of flirty conversation and I wasn't ready for it. Two shots turned into four and four into six then I continued to ask for more. He poured it without asking. Tonight, I wasn't going to think of my cheating ex. This was my night. My phone rang and I glanced to look at the caller ID. Cole double heart. To my disappointment, my heart beat skipped. Why was he calling me? After calling me a selfish b***h? One that wasn't worth his time? Of course. He must be regretting his decision. A text entered and I glared at the screen. “Hey, Hayley. I didn't mean what I said earlier. I was angry. Where are you? Let us meet?” Ohh, he was trying to do damage control. I was sure Logan was laughing right now. I placed my phone on airplane mode, making my way to the bathroom to take a piss. I wasn't going to allow anyone, not even the bastard, to ruin my night. Entering into the bathroom, I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I really looked different. Taylor’s charm. She sure knew how to bring out the goodness in me. Smiling faintly at that fact, I did what I came to do and turned to leave when a hand reached to me from behind. “What is a sexy girl like you doing in here all alone?” A feline smile played on his lips as he regarded me in a dirty way. My heart tightened in my chest. There was no way anyone could hear me if I screamed. I swallowed hard. “I am not alone. I—” He let out a chuckle and stepped closer, encroaching my space as he tilted his head to the side. “Don’t lie to me, love. I know a lone wolf when I see one and I want my fill of you.” His hands reached to grab my gown from the hem as I closed my eyes, a scream lodged in my throat. But his touch never came. The sound of someone being slammed in the wall made my eyes go wide open. I flinched as I watched another man punched the fucker in his face multiple times, blood spilling across his face and even staining his fist. When I noticed he wasn’t going to let the man go, I rushed to him and held his hand back. He twisted his head to me. At that point, I realized my mistake. I just tried to— He closed his eyes and pulled away from the man, letting out a deep exhale. He rose to his feet, c*****g his head to the side. “And why do you smell like her?” He all but growled into my face. “Smell? Like who?” I asked, confused. He gave me a long stare before letting out a curse. “Are you fine? Did he touch you?” He asked, concern coating his words. I stepped back a bit, nodding. “Yeah. Yeah. I'm fine. Thank you.” Minutes later, he had led me out of toilet and towards the counter where I had left moments ago. He didn't even ask if I was age appropriate to take a shot but he ordered one for me. “Give the girl something, please.” He must have felt that I was in shock and I needed something strong. But why was he still here? “Thank you,” I mumbled, taking my seat. He nodded, turning his attention back to his phone. I watched his brow furrow together as if he was informing someone of his disappointment. My ringing tone blared through the air, I flinched hard, surprise and shock muffling each other. I thought I had placed my phone on airplane mode. I knew who was calling so I didn't bother to look at it as I switched it off. “Stubborn ex?” A gruff voice spoke up, stopping me from thinking. I lifted my eyes and turned to him, narrowing them into slits. This was the first normal conversation we were having after he saved me. I found myself shaking my head. “A very stubborn and recent ex.” His brows went up at that. “Huh?” I lifted my shoulders in a half shrug. “Caught him cheating with a b***h and his friend today.” I didn't know why I felt comfortable enough to talk to this man. His brows knotted tight. “And you are not into stuffs like that?” I gave him a deadpanned look and he snorted, looking away, a playful smile curled on his lips faintly. “Is this where I get to tell you sorry and that he wasn't meant for you?” He asked, although I caught the hint of sarcasm in his tone. A smile spilled across my lips and I found myself chuckling. “Cliché.” I met his silvery gaze, watching it peruse my face and my heart beat accelerated. Crimson red slid form neck to my cheeks. Why was he staring at me like that! I wanted to shake my head. It must be the alcohol messing with my mind. I looked away, breaking whatever spell was there. Clearing my throat, I asked. “And why are you here tonight? What about your wife? I can’t see her anywhere.” I made a show of looking around as if to search for her. He blinked, a smug smirk playing on his lips. I hated what his smirk made me insinuate. I felt petty for asking if he had a wife whereas deep within my core, I dreaded the response to that. Was I bad that I wanted his response to be negative? He pulled his lower lip in as he turned to me. Leaning closer to me, I caught a waft of his woodsy cologne again. This was the second time we were this close and it made my head swim. “I don't have a wife. She left me. And for why I am here…” Relief washed through me at the response and I waited for the conviction to fleet into me but nothing came. F*ck! I was becoming a bad girl. He glanced around. “I came for my rebellious daughter.” That made me hike my brows up. He has a daughter? “Yes, I do.” He responded, making my realize I had spoken that out loud. Maybe he saw the disappointment written all over my face, but he said nothing. “I propose something now.” He held my gaze hard. That piqued my interest, making my purse jump a bit. “I help you forget your stupid recent ex tonight. And we share no names. No contacts.” He arched a brow, waiting for my response. I glanced around, excitement churning in my belly at the proposal. I swallowed hard, tilting my head and folding my arms, making my burst spill more than necessary. His eyes tracked the movement and I watched his Adam’s apple move. “How?” I whispered. “How do you intend to make me forget my stupid ex, sir?” I drawled the last word, a triumphant smile curling around my lips at what it did to him. Something wild glinted in his eyes as he leaned even closer to me, his hot breath fanning my face as he whispered, “I would start from here,” His fingers moved from where they rested on the counter to my lips. Dragging them down my neck to the place my boobs were pressed together. “Then here,” “And finally, here.” As his fingers moved, they left heat in their wake. Heat that made me clench my thighs tight. I could feel how slick and wet my core was. F*ck! I should feel bad for letting a stranger touch me like this publicly but all it did was fan me to more flames. I waited for him to touch where I needed him most but he halted and moved back, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. A whimper escaped from me as I watched him through hooded eyelids. “Tonight is going to be a long night, sweetheart. Brace yourself.”
