TINA POV:
“Sarah, okay I know, I told to get to know that guy, but come on we miss our friend.” I say grabbing her hand as she walks up to us.
Karen looks up when she hears me talk, “Oh Tina, giver her a break she is enjoying her new relationship,” She looks over at Sarah and winks at her, “but we really do need to hang out, maybe have a girl’s weekend away.”
“You girls are right we haven’t been spending much time together, let’s go shopping maybe we can find some dresses for homecoming or get some ideas.”
We make are way into class, we see Evan already in class he looks a lot better, He looks better, when we first asked Sarah about it she just said that it was nothing to worry about. He smiles when he sees us walk in, before taken her seat, she gives him a kiss.
“So, Sarah when do you want to go shopping?” I ask as I take my seat.
“Good morning girls.” Evan says smiling at us.
We say hi back, I know I push Sarah to go after him but after seeing him last week and how beat up he was, Karen and me where worried about Sarah being with him. We are planning on talking to her about it this weekend when we go shopping.
“So, what do you think, we can go to the game Friday night, and then stay over at Tina’s and Saturday morning go out for breakfast and then hit the mall and have lunch. Afterwards we can watch a movie.” Karen said eyeing Evan and then Sarah.
“That sounds great” Sarah said without missing a beat.
I sat there and wondered if Evan would be okay with her going without talking to him about it first. I’m not saying that he was a control guy or anything but who knows he could be, from what I heard this weekend he beat up his last girlfriend. Karen and I are planning on talking to her this weekend about everything that we heard. The bell rang and Mr. Schmidt came in.
“Okay guys, so there are a few things we need to go over the first thing we need to do is vote on a theme for homecoming. The themes are Under the Sea, next is The Waltz, and lastly Beneath the Stars. If you could all take out piece a paper and write which theme you want and hand it to me before you leave that would be great.”
“Those themes are lame.” A boy yelled from the back of the class. People started laughing.
Mr. Schmidt talked some more about other things going on with school events none of which I cared about.

The day seemed to last forever. I was ready to leave when I walked out to my car, I see Evan standing by my car.
“Hey.” I said looking at the ground.
“Hey, look I have a few things I need to talk to you about.” He said with a smile on his face.
Great is all I could think he is going to tell me that Sarah can’t go this weekend or something.
“What’s up?”
“I need your help with a few things, one of them being can you help me come up with a cool way to ask Sarah out to homecoming please and the next thing is I would really like to get to know you and Karen so maybe one Sunday we could all hang out?”
I stood there looking at him. “Yeah I guess sure.”
He seems like he is being nice but who knows maybe it is all an act. He didn’t seem so happy with my answer.
“Okay thanks I have to get to work but I will talk to you later.”
KAREN’S POV
“Hey honey.” I hear so I walk in the door my mom is here. From the smell of it is she trying to cook.
“Hey.” I say as I walk into the kitchen.
“So, your dad wasn’t able to make it back something came up for its just going to be us for another week. I know he really wanted to be here sweetie.”
I rolled my eyes, this last summer my parents have started acting more like real parents but it’s a little too late.
“Okay whatever.” I say waking out of the kitchen.
“Dinner will be done about 5.” She calls out soundly motherly it sounds so fate and makes me want to throw up.
I through myself on my bed and start on my math homework. After talking to Evan, I think I know what I want to go to school for. I feel like if there was someone looking out for him his life would have been better with how many times, he had been in the hospital you would think that something would have happened a long time ago. I was going to be a social worker. I was going to help kids that needed help, I was also going to be able to help people that wanted to be parents, people that would make great parents, I wanted to be able to help make them a family.
Once I was done with my math homework I started working on my paper for English. I should be getting my rough draft back sometime this week. Next week our second draft would be due, and I had changes to make now knowing what I was going to go to school for. I hear my phone ring I go over to the night stand where is was charging.
Unknown:
I can see you.
Sarah:
Who is this?
Unknown:
You will find out soon.
What the hell was that about. I blocked the number. I started working on my paper again. When I hear my mom call from downstairs that dinner was done. I grab my phone and head downstairs Evan should be off soon and would be calling. The smell of the food hits me as soon as I open the door. I walk into the kitchen and see the stack of dishes in the sink, I clinched my jaw, and walk over to the table which is already set and there is food on both of our plates.
“See down.” I hear my mom call from behind me.
I take a seat looking at my plate, chicken breast, rice, and streamed Broccoli sits on it. I give her a smile. From the looks of it the chicken is dry.
“Thanks.” I say, looking at this makes me miss Evan’s cooking and all he can really cook is spaghetti, pizza, and tacos. I don’t know what to say to my mom, so I wait until she sits down.
“How is school going?”
“It is fine.”
“That is good homecoming is coming up right?”
“Yep in a little less than two months.”
“Oh, do you have a dress yet?”
“No, Tina, Karen, and me are going to the mall this weekend to look at dresses.”
“Do you have a date yet?”
Evan hasn’t asked and we aren’t officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet, but I am hoping that he asks me, I was hoping when the voting happened, he would have asked me, but he didn’t.
“No not yet.”
She nods taken a bite, trying to find something else to talk about.
“Sorry that the chicken is a little dry it’s been awhile since I cooked. Your dad was always more of the cook.”
I nod eating. My phone starts to ring, and my mom looks at it.
“No phones at the table please.”
I pull it out to stop the ringing unknown number. I stick in back in my pocket.
“Who was that?”
“I don’t know, it was an unknown number.”
“Do you get a lot of unknowns numbers?”
“Just lately.”
After that we finish eating without talking. My mom gets up and sets her plate in the counter. I follow her. My phone rings again this time it is Evan. And a smile forms on my face.
“Go ahead a take it we can talk later, after I’m done with the dishes.”
I nod before answering.
“Hey you.”
“Hey baby girl.”
I head up to my room. “What are you doing?
“Just hanging out. Just got done with work and getting ready to eat.”
“What is on the menu for tonight?” I ask will a giggle.
“Mac N Cheese.”
“Wow, the food of champions.” I laugh.
“Maybe you should come teach me how to cook.”
We sit and talk I ask how work was. And ask him if he wants to hang out Saturday when we get back. After talking for an hour my mom calls me downstairs and I tell him that I must go but I would call him back later.

MARY’S POV (Sarah’s mom)
How was I going to tell her who Mitch and I really are? How do we make up for being so mean to her when she was growing up? What would she do when she finds out? This is going to be hard.
“Sarah, we need to talk.” I say taken a deep breath and letting it out.
“Okay.” She says taken a seat in the couch.
“You father got hurt working and is in the hospital.”
“Is he okay what happened?” She asked without a sound of care in her voice.
“He will be fine.”
“Are you going to go back and be with him?”
“No, it happened before I left to come home. He told me to come home.”
“I want to tell you that I know that we weren’t the best parents to you and for that I am sorry I miss we could take it back that we could turn back time, but we can’t. I would like to move on, and I know I will never be the mom you wanted but I would like to be your friend.”
I can tell that she doesn’t know how to handle it, so she sits there and doesn’t say anything. I wait for her to say anything. It feels like it has been hours before she says anything.
“No, you will never be the kind of mother that I needed growing up that is the pass. But if you are wanting so kind of relationship then maybe we can work on that I think that Beth would have wanted that.”
My heart drops when I hear Beth’s name, we haven’t really said it in the last five years. I want to tell her more I want to talk to her more, but I leave it at this for now. I tell her good night and that I will see her in the morning. Once I am sure she is in her room for the night I head downstairs. Feeling along the wall I find the hidden door that lets to the room. I sit down at the computer sitting in from of me and turn it on I grab my headset and slide it on as well. Once the computer it loaded, I clicked on a window and it taps into the main frame.
“Yes, this is Agent Mary Summerland.”
On the screen pops up the head field Agent. She looks at me worried putting on her head set.
“Summerland, why are you getting a hold of me?”
“I think my personal information has been leaked, Sarah has been getting phone calls from unknown numbers and I am requesting that someone looks into it.”
“Very well. Is there anything is?”
“Not at this time.”
“Have you told her yet?”
“No. I think it is better for now that I don’t.”
“Very well, there has been an update on your husband, he is out of the coma and should be waking up at any moment.”
“Thank you for the update. Please let me know if any other updates.”
“Well do.”
With that she hangs up. I close everything down and power off the computer. Turn off all lights as I leave making sure to close the door tightly. I make my way up the stairs to the top floor and hear Sarah laughing on the phone she sounds happy. I knock on the door before popping my head in.
“Sarah please don’t stay up too late it is a school night.”
“Okay.” She calls back before I close the door. I head down the hallway pass what was once Beth’s room. I open the door to my bedroom it has been untouched for two weeks. We tried to get back here earlier but something stopped that from happening and now I am afraid that work has followed us home, and Sarah’s life maybe on the line. I pull a necklace out of the box sitting on my dresser, it has a tracker in it. I was planning on giving it to Sarah tonight, but I will wait until the morning. For now, I will let her live her normal life.
