Chapter 7Dante A cool breeze caressed his face. He was outside. That couldn’t be right. He was sure he had fallen asleep under a roof. Dante slowly came into consciousness. He wasn’t lying in a warm bed, but on a hard wooden surface. As he cracked open his eyes, he saw leafy branches swaying in the breeze, providing merciful shade from the afternoon sun. “Finally, you’re awake,” Raphael said as he came into view. Dante blinked cluelessly. His whole body felt like a rock. Raphael climbed on top of him and kissed his head over and over before he cradled him in his arms. “Every time you sleep like this, you scare me to death.” Dante had the strangest sense of nostalgia now. Back when they had aimlessly roamed the mountain and slept out in the open, they’d had a few unpleasant encounters.
