Nathan
got aggravated with the way he was staring at the paper continuously. He spat out furiously, "Will you just give me the damn answer!".
The doctor raised his head and broke out in a smile, "I will advise you to run after the lady. She is indeed a lifesaver, your report is neat."
Nathan understood the first part of the sentence but the other half was confusing. He raised his brow.
"Your result showed that you are free from any disease. And regarding the illness from your previous report, you didn't break out in sweat. So I will be advising you to look for the last, then maybe you try getting involved in the activity again." The doctor Kaiser to read his facial expression. He saw that he was listening carefully so he continued, "It might be that you.."
"It's okay, I understand,” Nathan interrupted him, Nathan was smart. He didn't need the doctor to say everything before he understood what he was implying. He stood up and walked out of the cabin majestically. The doctor shook his head in surprise as he left, he took his phone and his intention was clear. He wanted to inform Nathan's parent about the progress in his health issue.
Immediately Nathan got back to his car, Benjamin handed him a tablet. The tablet contained all the information on Violet, her background, health status, and everything needed.
FLASH END
Benjamin was standing in front of his lost boss, he arrived some minutes ago but his body was in deep thought. Nathan would be having a meeting with the board in a few minutes, Benjamin took a pen and hit it on the table. It was to call back his attention, "Boss, the meeting is in a few minutes."
"Okay, let's go."
Conference room
All the boards of directors rose to their feet the second they saw Nathan approaching. They could see the deep frown that appeared on his forehead and they knew not to misbehave. With that frown plastered on his face, they knew he was in a bad mood.
“Let's begin,” he sat down on his chair and stared at the screen in front of him.
Before the person could start the presentation, his phone rang. He raised his hand and halted the meeting, so he could take the call. They knew that it must be from someone important for him to take the call while the meeting was going on.
His frown keeps deepening as he converses on the phone, and after a minute he drops the door. He stared at Benjamin, “Benjamin will hold the meeting in place of me.“ With that simple sentence, he left the meeting. Nathan knew that Benjamin would give an opinion just like he would do.
Nathan rushed out of the Company, his housekeeper called that his mother was there. He knew that the doctor must have informed him of the situation, if not there's no how she would get the know. He got into the driver seat and drove him in a hurry, he felt restless that Violet would be alone with his Mom.
He got home in a remarkably short time, he got out of the car without parking well. He strode into the house restless. When he entered, he saw his Mom sitting in the living room with Violet. They were facing each other and they seemed to be having a heart-to-heart conversation. He was a little bit puzzled.
“Mom,” he called out announcing his presence.
Mrs Martinez smirked knowing that her son was around, she raised her brow and stood up. She smiled, “Why are you home?“
“Mom, why are you here?“ Nathan asked.
“Son, what do you expect? You got married without informing anyone. You never told us that you have someone you have been dating in secret.“ Mrs Martinez folded her arms across her chest.
Nathan rolled his eyes discreetly and walked to Violet. He sat beside her and pecked her on her forehead, which only added to Mrs Martinez's puzzlement.
Nathan said with a straight face, “This is just the way people do now. We were not ready for marriage but you pushed us to it.“
Mrs Martinez wasn't fooled by the excuse he made up, “You can't deceive me, Nathan. We both know what is wrong..“
“Mom,” Nathan called back, he didn't want Violet to know of his health status. Mrs Martinez paused her lip and stared between the both of them. Nathan said to Violet, “Go to our room.“
Violet left silently.
Mrs Martinez kept staring at Nathan until he decided to spill it out.
Nathan interrupted, "Mom, I had no other choice. I'm sure those little brats told you what happened. They planned it out, drugged me, and made me sleep with her. Doctor Adrian advised me to find her, and I need an heir."
Mrs. Martinez's expression turned cold. "But what about Rona, Nathan?"
Nathan's demeanor suddenly turned icy. "Mom, you know Rona is my past. I've moved on, and I can't touch her again."
Nathan suddenly becomes chill cold, “Mom, you know Rona is my past. I have nothing to do with her again, I'm already over her. We both decided to go our separate ways and I can't touch her.“
Mrs Martinez pat his shoulder, “Will she continue to be your wife or will you let go of her after she gives you a baby?“
Nathan replied ambiguously, "That's not for me to decide, Mom. If she behaves well..."
“That not for me to decide, if she behaves well.“
Mrs. Martinez asked another question, trying to gauge Nathan's commitment to Violet. She hoped the lady would behave well and also conduct her investigation. She wanted to know what charm Violet possessed that made Nathan marry her despite his obvious reluctance.
