Arrows immediately streaked upwards, with little effect, but the center of the clouds began to move and swirl as if something aloft was trying to avoid the arrows.
"Again!" cried Emedius. "Try for a closer grouping of the moving circulation.’
Again, the Elves fired a volley; this time, a terrible high-pitched screech lingered while the lightning paused. The clouds began dissipating, and one last tremendous blast of lightning was unleashed on those below.
