It's been 5 days since I visited Ryan. Dad's health has been deteriorating which just makes the conditions more appealing to me. Indirectly, he's in control of the company if I accept. A 60% share?! C'mon. That's almost all of the income. I sigh, rubbing my head as I walk into the bar.
The loud music bangs in my head as I make my way to the bartender.
He comes over after seeing me signal to him
"A tequila, please"
"Bad day hmm?" He raises his perfectly arched eyebrow. That's how the conversation between I and the bartender, whose name I figured to be Josh, started.
I ordered more drinks into the night. Josh was attending to other customers when I felt a body beside me. I looked over and a scowl immediately appeared on my face.
"Nice to meet you too, Dorothy" He chuckled, speaking with his gruff voice.
"I can't say the same, Romano" I spit out his name. I detest him with all my heart. Not only was he one of our major business associates but our history goes back to the time when i was with Ryan. Let's just say, Ryan didn't like him much.
"What's a pretty lady like you doing here alone? No bodyguard around?"
My palms immediately form a fist, not missing the hint that he was asking about Ryan. I don't bother giving him an answer as I gulp the last of my tequila.
I get down from the bar stool, wobbling a little, just realising how drunk I really am. I give Romano a sneer when he attempts to hold me. He immediately raises his hands up as if surrendering but I knew better with that smirk on his face.
I stumble out of the bar, trying so hard to focus my vision on my phone as I order an Uber. Unfortunately for me, the nearest one was an hour away. I sigh, resting my body on a tree.
"You won't see a cab by this time, Dorothy"
I roll my eyes, cursing out as I hear the most annoying voice in my life.
"Leave me alone, Romano"
"I can give you a lift"
I scoff
"I'll rather walk home than be less than 10 feet away from you"
He gives a frustrated sigh
"Why do you hate me so much?! Last I remember you were begging me to go harder"
My head snaps to him and in that moment, I've never wanted to strangle someone more than I want to strangle this egoistic man.
A cold breeze blows over making me unconsciously wrap my hands around myself.
"C'mon Dorothy. You're literally shivering. Just let me give you a lift"
"I'm fine"
"No you're not. I promise I won't do anything"
Another breeze blows, harsher than the last one. My teeth clatters and finally I give in.
We walk to his car and I roll my eyes when he opens the door for me.
I breathe out into the cold night as we swoosh past the buildings. My worst mistake I made in life was falling asleep in Romano's car.
