Chapter 2

3 years before Wolves choose who they mate with and once fully mated their souls becomes one. When I met my mate it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. He was soon to be alpha of the neighboring pack. I was neither alpha, beta, or delta. My father was head pack warrior though, strongest in the pack not including the alpha of course. When he was younger the alpha even offered him the beta position but my father turned it down, it was to much paper work and responsibility. Mom and dad attempted to buy me nice dresses and dolls but I was never interested in those things. I wanted to fight. I remember father coming home from work and I would hide around the house and attack him. He finally caved and started training me. There are very few women who train to become a warrior but that never stopped me. I wanted to to be the best just like my daddy. My mate was close friends with our alpha who I was also my best friend. Clyde was extremely handsome, tall, short black hair, and piercing blue eyes. I’d being lying if I said I didn’t find him extremely attractive, I mean I’ve been crushing on the guy since I was 6! I always felt plain compared to him. I’m half Hispanic so I’m slightly tan, green eyes, skinny, and short wavy brown hair. Why he always felt the need to be around me was something I never understood. He always drove me crazy. Continuously picking on me since we were kids. Oddly enough though we became more friendly towards each other the older we got or maybe I could just tolerate him more because he was always around me. I never thought to much about it honestly. At 15 I was sent to go live with my uncle and train. My uncle was leader of the strongest warriors and I wanted to be the strongest for my pack. It took awhile but I finally begged my dad into saying yes. The night before I was leaving I remember hearing a knock at my window. And of course it was no one other the Clyde. “What are you doing? Are you crazy? You could break your neck! Or worse my dad could kill you!” I whisper to him. “So you’re worried that I could die?” He said smirking. “ No I’m worried that if you die it could start a pack war” I tell him rolling my eyes. I stare at Clyde while he comes into my room and sits on my bed. This isn’t the first time he’s done this. When he’s not around the boys he’s actually pleasant to be around. We spent nights like this before talking for hours. I take a seat next to him. He stares me for a minute with those beautiful blue eyes. “I’m going to miss you wildfire.” He says. I look at him and he has the look of pure sadness in his eyes. I find myself hugging him. He stiffened at my hold mostly because I caught him by surprise but then relaxes and hugs me back. I’m still holding him when I tell him, “ I’m going to miss you to. I mean who else is going to annoy me?” I hear him chuckle and start to pull away. When I see his face I see his eyes glazed as if he’s trying to hold his tears. My heart starts to hurt. “I wanted to give you something,” he sniffles and take off the necklace he’s always wearing. I looked at him shocked. “I can’t take that Clyde! You’re dad gave that to you! It’s been in your family for centuries!” Clyde’s necklace has been passed down from alpha to alpha and he’s trying to give it to me?! “I’m not giving it to you silly, I’m just letting you borrow it until you get back so turn around ,” he said rolling his eyes then smirking. I look at him for a minute and then nod an turn around. The necklace is a arrowhead, I’ve always admired it. “Once I get back you’re taking it right back.” I tell him. Then I whisper, ”thank you.” “It will protect you while I’m not around,” he said with a grin. I look back at him. “What will protect you?” I said looking down. He started to chuckle,” I don’t need protection.” I roll my eyes. “ ok big bad alpha,” I tell him as I smirk. Then I had an idea. I went to my dresser and grab my leather cuff my father gave me. I loved it a lot honestly. I grab Clyde’s hand and pull it towards me. He looks at me surprised for a minute. I start to wrap the cuff around his arm and pull the laces. “I can’t take this wildfire it’s important to you,” he said. “You’re not taking it, just borrowing it till I get back,” I smirk. He had such a huge smile on his face. “I should leave before your dad kills me.” He tells me. I nod and walk him to the window. “Trying not to miss me to much wildfire,” he said then leans down a pecks me on the damn lips and takes off. I just stand there shocked placing my hand on my lips. Three years later I come back not realizing how much was going to change. How much my life would change once I saw him again. “Kierra! You’re finally back!" My alpha, Blaine said as giving me a huge bear hug. He reached me before anyone else in my family could. I hug him back smiling. We’ve always been close. Our parents even wished we’d mate, but I only saw him his a friend, and I’m sure he felt the same to. Soon as see pulls away from me my baby brother and sister tackle me. Nina is 8 and Max 11. I was pretty close to both of them before I left and made sure to call them once a week while I was gone. “Kiki we missed you!” Nina yelled. She could never say Kierra right so she gave me her own personal nickname when she was little. Even Max started calling me that. I hugged mom and dad next. They were extremely happy and I honestly didn’t think they’d let go of me. Soon my dad lets go but mom doesn’t. “We missed you so much baby! Don’t you dare ever leave me again! ” My mom cries. Hugging me to death. I glance at my dad and see his eyes are slightly glazed as of he’s trying not to cry. My dads not a super emotional man so seeing like that tugs at my heart. Mom finally lets go. I start to grab my things when Blaine puts his hand on my shoulder. “Don’t be mad but we are throwing you a welcome home BBQ.” He says. “Ughhhh” I rolled my eyes. He knows I hate social gatherings.
