Aria stumbled back as pain shot through her neck. Damien's blood was still on his lips. The forest was silent. Too silent.
Then she heard it. A low growl. Then another. Then ten more.
From the shadows, wolves emerged. Black fur, red eyes, scars across their faces. Rogues. No pack. No rules.
"An Alpha's howl..." The biggest rogue stepped forward. His fangs dripped with saliva. "We smelled it from 5 miles away. Fresh Alpha. Weak Alpha."
Aria's new Wolf growled inside her mind. *Mine. Territory. Fight.*
She straightened up. Gold eyes blazing. "I'm not weak."
The rogue leader laughed. "Prove it, little girl."
They charged.
Damien moved faster than lightning. He stood in front of Aria, his massive Alpha aura exploding outward. "Touch her and die."
But there were too many. Five rogues circled him. Five circled Aria.
"Run!" Damien roared without looking back.
"No." Aria whispered. Then louder: "NO!"
Her Wolf took over. Bones cracked, claws extended, fur sprouted. She wasn't a girl anymore. She was an Alpha Wolf. Pure gold eyes. 7 feet tall.
The rogue lunging at her froze. "Impossible... she shifted so fast..."
Aria leaped. Her claws slashed his throat. Blood sprayed the snow.
Silence.
All the rogues stopped. They could feel it now. Her power. Raw. Untamed. Royal.
Damien stared at her, shock in his red eyes. "You... you're not just an Alpha. You're a Luna."
Aria shifted back to human, breathing hard. Blood on her hands. But no fear in her eyes.
"I told you." She looked at Damien. "I claimed you back."
In the distance, a horn blew. Another pack was coming.
Damien grabbed her hand. "We need to run. Now."
Aria nodded. For the first time in her life, she wasn't running away. She was running forward.
With him.
