Richard choked on a scream when the driver started overtaking some cars on the highway, dodging them like bullets, and he sure heard people cursing the man for driving recklessly.

He had seen such scenes in a movie so many times and had believed they were tricks. Well, maybe they are, but here he's getting the real experience of the bad guys chasing the unbeatable character and he races through the city, causing chaos just to escape. But he's not even the driver here!

He and Blake held each other tightly, his eyes tightly closed and his body shaking in fear. When he spared a glance back, he saw the car racing right behind them.

The other guy picked up his phone and called Landon. He was answered by his automatic response, so he pocketed the phone and brought out his g*n.

“It's not safe to open fire in this situation. You might take down innocent people,” the one behind the wheel said, his voice breaking off as he tried to keep control of the car and not crash into oncoming cars.

“I think the cops are on the go. It's time to take advantage, Jade!” The one with the g*n said, keeping an eye on the side mirror.

The driver took the next turn, ignoring a road signal, luckily, before the car chasing after them could pass, some other cars already blocked the highway and the cops were roaring at them to stop or get a hot pursuit.

“Oh my goodness! What just happened right there? Who are those people and what the f**k would they want from us?” Richard cried out as soon as the car drove into his estate.

“It's not us, but you.” The driver, Jade, told him. “It's my fault, I exposed you to danger knowing that they would easily trail you with the aid of your amulet.”

“Who are they? And what do they want from me? Is there something other than those strange voices in my head related to this amulet?” Richard stumbled on the questions, tapping the amulet secured to his neck.

“Calm down, Richy. It didn't end as badly as we had believed it would, thanks to the cop's intrusion and Jade's amazing driving skills.” Blake reminded, trying to cool him off.

“Yes, you don't have to think that your amulet is meant to bring you harm. It has been protecting you even before you were born. But it's going to take time for you to understand the kind of responsibility bestowed upon you and how to fight off those who want to take your life.” The other man, Qing, explained further.

Richard learned from Landon that the two met because of a prophecy and had found him first as heavenly descendants sent to help Richard. They were both raised in a small Chinese village by a royal concubine.

Richard believed they were raised in China because of their accents. But their English is understandable and they make little or no mistakes when speaking. Sometimes, they speak to each other in Chinese.

“I need to speak with Dr. Landon,” Rich said and walked into the house, Blake followed him.

In a few minutes, Landon entered his room and he threw a couple of questions at him.

“Can we speak over dinner tonight?” Landon tried to calm him down since he seemed restless.

Cocky came back before dinner, so all of them gathered to eat together.

“Can someone please start talking to me?” Rich prompted when they all ate in silence.

Landon gave Blake a side look to get lost. Rich told him that Blake is family so he should speak in front of him with reassurance that he trusts him.

“I'm not your biological father,” Cocky started, frowning at Blake.

He's indeed been friends with the boy since kindergarten, but he never trusted him. Anyone who understands the prophecy won't trust anyone around Richard.

“That makes sense,” Richard grumbled.

“Your father, Dr. Reed was the best military surgeon Cubana ever recorded. Landon and I served under him for only three years before he died,” Cocky explained with a sigh.

“Mr Reed was kidn*pped with two other scientists by an evil corporation which to date hasn't been discovered. According to my findings, he refused to do their bidding after those scientists created a deadly virus. He was used as an experiment to test the efficiency of the creation and was found dead in his car.” Landon helped him.

“An autopsy showed that he was infected with the deadly virus, and the doctors who made the discoveries also died because they were infected. Since then, no one has been reported to have contracted the virus, and the virus remains a mystery. The corporation is yet to be found, and nobody knows the intention of their creation of such a life-threatening disease.” Cocky narrated with a sad voice.

“What about my mother?”

Cocky looked at Landon, who sat stiffly in his seat. He rested his back on his chair and sighed tiredly. It hasn't been easy for him to keep the secret, now that he's finally telling them, old wounds have opened.

“She was pregnant with you when your father died, so it wasn't easy for her, but she pulled through until she gave birth to you…” Landon's voice trailed off

“And so she died during childbirth because of the pain?” Richard threw in impatiently.

“No, she was killed by the midwife who helped her give birth. The woman was an agent of the evil corporation. She planned to take you, but I was able to save you. Unfortunately, she slit her throat instead of confessing the truth.” Landon shook his head sadly.

“So what is this scary prophecy that you have mentioned?” Rich grew nervous as he stood up and paced around the dining room.

“You're the doctor who is going to create the d**g that can cure this deadly virus. The world isn't a peaceful place, Richard.” Landon stood as well and went to pat him on his shoulder.

“But in every chaos that the world faces, there are always survivors. There must be a hero or heroes who save these survivors,” Cocky added with a smack of his lips.

“You will be Cubana’s hero during trying times.” Landon finished with an affirmative nod.

“Let’s imagine that everything you've just said is possible. How do I get started?”

“First off, your name remains Richard Hendricks. If you use your natural father's name, I'm afraid it would be easy for the enemies to identify you. And you have to leave the country until you are ready to start your research and take over the laboratory.”
