“Why are you up so early? Isn’t today your day off?” Instead of a proper morning greeting, her mother started her day with a raised eyebrow and sneered.
Wednesday frowned a bit while sipping from a cup of hot coffee. Her eyes stayed fixated at her plate but she could tell from the corner of her eyes how wide Avery’s grin was. She drew a sharp breath to keep the frustration to herself.
“Again, let the single lady go.” her sister giggled after she threw a scornful look at her. Avery shrugged both shoulders and stuck her tongue out playfully to tease her more. “It’s Wednesday, let Wednesday enjoy her day. No pun intended.”
Their mother smacked her sister’s head while putting down the plate of scrambled eggs over the table. “Don’t give her ideas or she’ll end up like you.
