14 Reine The darkness that had a hold on me faded and I took a deep breath, then another. The blackness turned midnight blue, then lightened through all the shades of blue to purple, pink, and finally I opened my eyes to see the sun peeking over the horizon of the granite monolith. I lay on my side, my head cradled on a strong thigh, and someone stroked my hair. Sir Raleigh lay across my waist, and I lifted a hand to scratch him behind the ears. As the sun rose, golden light spread through my veins, renewing my fire, and my earth energies rooted me into the granite beneath me, pulling the strength of the mountain into my spirit.
