CHAPTER 31

Dina prepared the jasmine tea on the table while Queen Amira is enjoying her morning with her husband. After days of sorrow and loneliness, King Argon decided to share his morning once again with his lovely wife. He missed talking and eating with her. Because of his duties in the palace, he didn’t have the chance to do that back then.

After the death of the queen dowager, there were other conflicts in the palace that he needed to resolve. He almost lost his mind but he didn’t give up. He wished for that position back when he’s still young and now he’s holding into it, he won’t give up. When it was clarified that Queen Amira wasn’t the one who poisoned the queen dowager, he felt secure for her again. He knew her wife since the two of them married and he knew she can’t do such a thing.

Dayanara was executed the same day the king provided her death. Her family was mad about the king’s decision but they can’t do anything about it because of the false actions of Dayanara. Dayanara did a crime that was unforgettable by anyone. She poisoned the queen dowager and she slandered Queen Amira. Harming the two most powerful women in the palace only means death.

“Amira, I have a question.”

“What is it, Argon? You know you can always ask me.” Queen Amira sipped her jasmine tea. She drinks tea for better digestion of the food that she eats and to avoid other sicknesses. She believed that tea will help her live longer.

“How can Dayanara frame you? It looks like she hated you so much. I’ve seen her before and I thought the two of you were friends before I marry you. Why is she acting like that?”

“Don’t you really know, Your Highness?”

“The servant whom she asked to poison the queen dowager confessed that she wanted to be the queen. How certain she is that she will be the queen if we found out that you’re the one who’s poisoning the queen dowager? I believe that there’s more with that.”

Queen Amira gasped. This is the first time she’s going to explain what happened in the past. “Dayanara is my best friend back then. Their family is richer than us and she’s elegantly beautiful. The first time we met you, she already fell in love with you. She said that you are good-looking and is with serving with courage. At that time, she didn’t know that the two of us share moments that she didn’t know. When you proposed marriage to me, she got mad and she ended our friendship.”

“Dayanara is known for her unique beauty in the whole palace. She seduced the two investigators to testify against me. She thought she could attract you for you to make her the queen of the palace. If I was framed, then I will lose my position. And my former friend is certain that she’ll earn my position.”

“Don’t call her your friend. No friend would do things like that to you. I’m happy that I believe in you. Now I know why she seduced me while I’m mourning on mother’s death.”

“She seduced you?”

“She told me that you don’t have the capability to bore a child. She said she’ll give her servant who can bore a child for me. I rejected her and she got pissed.”

“Oh, Dayanara. She wasn’t like that when we’re still young. She’s the only daughter of her father and she attain everything that she wants to have except you. Maybe it is the reason why she tried to harm me to get you. A lot of years had passed and she can’t still get over it. Now, it is her life which she lost. I can now understand why love is infuriating. It controls a person and it can even drive someone to kill another.”

“I also want you to know that it wasn’t love. It is an obsession. If she truly loves me, she’s willing to let me go and be happy with you.” King Argon leaned to Queen Amira’s face. Their eyes sparkled as their lips touched.

“Argon! Lolita and Dina are here. You can’t kiss me every time especially when there’s a person.”

“They didn’t see anything.” King Argon faced the two servants. “Did you see anything?” she asked them.

Lolita and Dina stared at each other. They chuckled and faced the king again.

Lolita answered, “Of course, we don’t, Your Highness.”

“I still have a lot of things to do, Amira. Take a rest for the whole day and don’t worry about the duties that you have to do for the whole palace.”

“But, Argon. I am the queen of the palace of Caspian. How can I just take a rest for the whole day?”

“Fine! Do you what you have to do but don’t stress yourself out.” He reached her ears and whispers something that made Queen Amira laugh.

“Argon, you’re…” She didn’t finish what she’s about to say because of a laugh.

“I’ll take my leave now, Amira. Do what I say.” He raised her eyebrows twice on Queen Amira. He glanced at the two servants. “Take care of the queen while I’m not here.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

When King Argon left, the two servants approached the queen.

“What does the king whispered to you, Your Highness?” Dina asked.

“Dina, it’s a secret message only for the two of them. Don’t be curious about it.”

The queen laughed again. “My bad that I can’t tell the two of you about it because you’re still young. But I have to send my gratitude to the two of you because you protected me from Dayanara’s evil schemes. I didn’t think that she can’t do such a thing for me for her to become the queen of Caspian. Maybe she really changed after years and after I married King Argon.”

“Don’t think about it, Your Highness. It is our job to protect you because we are your personal servant,” Dina said.

“If we didn’t protect you, we’re also going to die by the fury of the king.”

“The two of you are both cunning.” She signaled the two to come closer to her. The two sauntered towards her and she embraced the two inside her arms. “Thank you. I promise that I will protect you and I won’t let someone harm the two of you.”

After the incident that happened in the queen dowager, the daily training of Aragorn and his comrades continued.

“This is a coat made of flame-resistant cloth. Watch and look at what’s going to happen with this if I put it on fire.” Leo walked to the fire that reached his belly. He threw the coat on the fire but it didn’t get burnt. When he removed the coat, the fire is still there. “This coat is used to protect someone from a fire. I bought us one for each of us so if a fire happened, we can use this.”

“This cloth is awesome! This will make me a fire-resistant guy,” Yosef said when he received the coat.

If this cloth can hide the fire, what if Sphyra hide her burning body using this so she can enjoy the world like a normal person. Aragorn smiled as he thought about it. What a brilliant idea!
