Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5 Aragorn heard footsteps nearby. The blazing girl was riding on top of him and their faces were so close to each other. A few more tension, distance, and passion, they will kiss. Aragorn changed their positions, he laid the woman below him and he covered her by positioning himself on top of her. Aragorn felt the burning feeling from the fire in the woman’s hair. This woman’s a living hell. He can’t believe the creatures like her still exist “What are you doing?” the woman whispered. Aragorn stayed for that position. He did not mind the woman. If they’re going to create noise, then they could be seen by the citizens. He knew that this woman didn’t want to be captured by her facial expressions earlier. The fire surrounding her would catch anyone’s attention in a starry night that’s why he pulled her towards him. “Hiding you,” Aragorn answered a few minutes after the woman asked. The woman avoided his face. “Who are you? How can you hide me if I’m the one who’s gonna kill you.” “Keep your voice low. They might hear us,” Aragorn warned. “Who are you and what are you?” “You’re asking me the same questions I asked you earlier. Answer me first then I’ll answer you back.” Aragorn used the small amount of time of silence to observe the surroundings, to feel if there’s still danger. He had a great keen sense when it comes to trouble. Back when he was a child, he used to avoid falling things in the kingdom, to avoid pain and bruises on his head. “Can you answer my question?” the woman asked again abruptly. Aragorn felt that they’re safe. He released the woman from his presence. He stood up, roamed around the surroundings. The citizens weren’t there and they’re now safe. He placed his hands on his hips. The woman stood up. Just like Aragorn, she looked for possible dangers that she faces every time in the forest. Citizens, wild animals, and animal traps. “I guess they were not nearby,” Aragorn said and looked at the woman. Her eyes started to flame, staring at Aragorn intensely as if she’s going to kill him. “Who are you? What are you doing here in the forest? If you’re planning to kill, run away or I’ll be the one to do it to you.” The flames in her hair and eyes aroused up. “Calm down,” Aragorn said. “You might be misunderstanding me. I’m not here to kill you. I happened to be lost and found you.” “I don’t believe you.” “I’m not asking you to believe me. I’m just telling you why I am in this shallow part of the forest.” “Okay, then. What’s your name?” Aragorn gulped cold air. His eyes blinked. “Aragorn. I’m residing here with my comrade to train my physical and mental skills. I wanted to improve so badly as a man.” “You must be kidding. Every man in this kingdom is strong, bold, and ready to kill. They didn’t need to educate themselves because being a warrior is in their blood. How can I face a man pretending to be weak and innocent?” “I’ve been dependent on my parents for years. People hated me and my capabilities. Let me go and I’ll pretend that things didn’t happen tonight.” She stared at his sincere blue eyes. Flames reflected from. He’s more since than she thought. Maybe he’s different from others, she thought. “Okay, then. Just forget about this night.” She turned her back from him. “Wait!” The woman stopped, still avoiding Aragorn’s stare. “What is your name and what are you?” “Is it necessary to tell you that?” “It would be fair for the both of us to know our names. I told you mine and you should explain to me what happened earlier.” She let out a foggy air from her mouth. “Sphyra. I am a phoenix.” Aragorn blinked and she disappeared from his sight. Aragorn woke up from a spat of Leo. He forgot to wake up earlier again. He got home late, before midnight, but Leo wasn’t still at home that time. Leo didn’t know anything about what happened last night, about Sphyra. Sphyra, a beautiful name means fire, just like her eyes which were covered in flames, he thought. Will he ever see her again? Will he still see that woman again? Leo told him that phoenix didn’t exist. How sure is he? Aragorn doubted. How sure is he if Aragorn himself saw the phoenix and had talked to her? The myth only stays a myth if no one has seen it. “You’ve been waking up later than later. Aren’t you serious about your training? Does your father wake up at this time? Leaders don't wait for someone to wake them up. They woke up before anyone could do it. They plan when others are sleeping.” Truths slapped Aragorn hard. Leo always has that attitude, to tell and slap the truth. He might have hated it and did not want to hear it anymore, but he’ll stay here for a long time. He had to make it his motivation, and not a distraction. “Apologies. I had trouble sleeping last night. I promise that I won’t repeat it again.” “A king doesn’t promise if he can’t fulfill it,” Leo left him with those words. “Come down and enjoy our breakfast.” Leo went down the wooden stairs, Aragorn followed. Unlike the past few days, the food on the table was better. Something he can eat, something that he likes. It was from the supplies that her parents had brought for him. “I cooked the food given by the royal couple. I don’t want to hear from anyone that I didn’t cook the food they gave to their precious baby.” It annoyed him, but he stayed silent and placed food on his plate. Leo always leaves precious words and sentences for him. It would’ve motivated him if it didn’t come from his voice. He wondered if Leo was one of them. One of the people who didn’t like him to be the king. Maybe, he’s forced to train him, he’s forced to be with someone he doesn't like. The breakfast of the two was interrupted by a strange voice coming from outside. Aragorn was the first one to stand up and Leo just followed him. Three men outside. Different looks, body type, and age. Who are they and what are they doing in front of Leo’s hut? They all bowed in chorus. “Greetings, Royal Prince and Young Warrior, Leo. The King asked us to train with the prince and stay with him until the training was finished.” Three more men to be with him? He hoped they weren’t as sarcastic and mean like Leo...
