Arlo didn’t waste time. He lifted one of his crystals and held it up between them. The glow brightened the second it pointed toward her.
The color drained from Gage’s face. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Arlo’s voice was calm but cold. “It means she’s carrying shadow energy.”
Lilly blinked, all innocence. “Excuse me?”
The crystal pulsed brighter, almost painfully.
I stepped forward, my heart pounding. “Drop the act, Lilly. What did they promise you?”
Her smile slipped for just a second, and that was all I needed to see.
