Daisy must have seen the threat to Piper because she came running up, barking furiously. The man didn"t even flinch. Instead, he lowered the g*n towards the dog.
"Shut the dog up, or it’ll be the first one to go. And don"t do anything stupid.
“Daisy, quiet!"
Daisy"s training kicked in, and Piper was grateful when she stopped barking and looked at her owner, waiting for another command. But the command didn"t come from Piper, it came from the man holding the g*n.
"Move it. You wanna see what"s going on in that cottage so bad? Let"s go. You"re gonna get a firsthand look."
Piper didn"t say a word. She followed his instructions and started heading down a worn path through the sand towards the cottage. She had hoped Daisy would run away, but the loyal dog stayed by her side.
