“Yow! Can I borrow your son?” Aunt asked my parents. She popped out of nowhere. She had a mischievous glint in her eyes. “What do you need my son for?” Mom asked back. “Can’t you just say yes without questioning me back?” “We’re talking about my son, Alicia. He’s not a toy.” “Whatever, Amara.” She then faced Dad. “What do you say, my dear brother-in-law? Will you let me borrow your son?” Mom was about to say something, but Dad stopped her. “Do you promise to bring him back, whole and unscratched?” “That’s why I like you more, Timothy. Of course! I’ll handle your son with care.” I can’t believe Dad would give me just like that. I kind of felt betrayed. “Come here, Tobias. Come to your beautiful Aunt.” Not that I really hate being with my Aunt. I was actually kind of excited. I treat her as an adventure, a never before kind of adventure. “Oops, I forgot to say something.” She went back to my parents’ room. I followed her. “By the way, it’s just you two here. I have already instructed the maids to not go near the second floor so you can do what you’ve been wanting to do since Timothy came back. Don’t be too loud, though. The maids might still hear you downstairs.” “What the-” Aunt ignored Mom. “Tobias, tell your parents. Do you want a little brother or a little sister?” Dad just laughed. Mom directed her annoyance at him instead. She hit Dad’s shoulder. “Just go, you two. I’ll wisely use the chance you gave us, Alicia. Don’t worry!” Dad said while Aunt was closing the door. I don’t understand what they are talking about, but I guess it’s better not to dwell on it. My instinct told me not to. “Where are we going, Aunt?” I asked when we both got inside the car. “You are really your Mom’s son. You also ask a lot of questions.” “And you are really her sister, you say a lot of unnecessary things before answering.” “Tssk. Smart-ass!” “I know.” I smiled at her mockingly. Yeah, I’m a little like her. Afterall, I’m her nephew. “So where are you bringing me?” “You’ll be my accessory, okay?” “Accessory to what?” “To here.” She showed me the red invitation. It was for the matchmaking event that Grandma said the other day. What is she planning this time? “How are you going to shoo love away this time, Aunt?” “You’ll know when we get there.” Then a sinister smile creeps over her lips. I already pity the men she’ll victimize in the event.
