“And who are you?” She snobbishly asked the man. “Oh, forgive my rudeness. I’m Raphael.” He extended his hand. Aunt just looked at his hand, not a hint that she'd accept it. But instead of being offended, he just chuckled. This one is different. “You wouldn’t mind if I sat here, right?” He didn’t wait for an answer. He pulled a chair and sat. “If you don’t disappear in front of us the next minute, I’ll shout that you sexually harass me.” Aunt said, but instead of getting scared, Raphael looked at her in a challenging manner. “If I were you, I wouldn’t do that. I’m even doing you a favor.” Aunt scoffed. “A favor? Me? From a man?” Raphael nodded confidently. “Uh huh. As long as I occupy this seat, no other men will come and try to get to know you. You're welcome. I know you’re shy to say thank you.” “I can manage, no, thanks.” “You want to keep on lying instead of just letting me sit here?” “Lie? Why would I do that?” “Like I said, I’m friends with your past dates. The sons of your Mom’s friends? You told them a different story from what you told the guy earlier. So tell me again that you’re not lying.” He’s daring her again. “So what if I’m lying? What’s that got to do with you?” “You’re right, it has nothing to do with me.” “See? So shoo!” “How about I offer a cooperative deal?” Aunt just raised her eyebrow. “Like you, someone forced me to be part of this event. So why not use each other for our own advantage? No other woman would bother me if I stayed here and vice versa. Isn’t that a win-win situation? Even for this little man here, you won’t need to bother him again for the rest of the event.” He included me. Does he want me to convince my Aunt to say yes to him? I thought he was a confident man. Or is he just simply cunning? Not giving my Aunt a reason to say no. To my surprise, Aunt laughed lightly. “You know, you don’t need to mention my nephew. You just sounded desperate to me. But anyway, I don’t see any loss in your offer, so why not? You can stay in that seat all you want. I would just pretend that you don’t exist. Good luck in spoiling your saliva.” She smiled at him as if saying, I won! So this is what happens when two people of the same cunningness crash with each other? The friction is too strong not to notice. “Let’s see if you can pretend that I’m not here. If I win, you’ll be friends with me.” They stared at each other, no one backing down. I sighed, tired of just watching the two of them. It’ll be a long day.
