Helena's POV:
He threw out a sharp hand, and the goons behind him lunged forward, slamming me hard against the ground and pinning me there so I couldn't even twitch.
"Let go of me! Martin! You're not a human being. You're a goddamn animal!"
I fought and strained with every ounce of strength I had, but the only thing my struggles got me was a mocking snort from Aria.
"Honey, she just called you a monster," she purred.
Martin's face went dark as a thundercloud in an instant. "Do it!" he snapped.
The bodyguard didn't waste a second. He pressed down hard, and the blade bit straight into my flesh. White-hot agony exploded through my limb immediately.
But that pain was nothing compared to the ache in my heart, already tattered and hole-riddled from everything he'd done.
Blood gushed from the gash and trickled slow and hot down my arm. I ground my teeth so hard they ached, and I didn't let a single whimper slip past my lips.
"Martin." I locked my glare on his cold, cruel face. "You and your men killed my son..." I paused, gathering every last scrap of strength I had left to cut the last thread tying me to him forever.
"From this day forward... we're done!"
Those words hit Martin like a lightning bolt out of a clear blue sky. His whole body jolted hard, and his eyes suddenly turned so dark they looked murderous.
"Helena! How the hell do you even have the guts to say that to me?!" he roared.
"All these years! What have you ever given me? Nothing but a useless autistic kid! A son that makes me too ashamed to hold my head up in public ever!"
His chest heaved up and down violently, like all the resentment he'd bottled up for years had finally found a c***k to burst out of.
"I never even dumped you! I didn't divorce you just because you popped out a broken, useless waste of a kid! I even kept you in this house, fed you and clothed you with everything you wanted! What gives you the right to stand there and tell me we're done?!"
He shouted so loud his voice cracked, and a thick blue vein bulged out from his temple, throbbing with rage.
That was when Aria reached out and rested her soft, silky hand on his arm to calm him down.
"Honey, calm down. If she hadn't been in the picture, we could've been together right after Johnny died. I would've given you a healthy, smart baby. We would never have ended up stuck like this."
Her words were like a drop of blazing hot oil, splattering straight onto Martin's already roiling fire of rage.
"That's right!"
Martin spun around to glare at me, his eyes blazing blood red.
"You ruined everything! You dare hate me? You dare cut all ties with me?!"
He snatched the blood-stained blade right out of his bodyguard's hand, then stormed over to where I was pinned.
"I'm giving you one last chance. Take back what you just said!"
All I gave him in reply was a cold, mocking snort, not a single flicker of fear in my eyes.
His face twisted into a hideous snarl instantly. He ground his teeth and raised the knife high.
"Still refusing to back down? Looks like you're really begging for death!"
The words were barely out of his mouth before he swung the blade down hard at my arm without a shred of hesitation!
Unbearable, indescribable agony tore through every inch of my body, and my whole vision flooded red.
Just as the blackness of unconsciousness was starting to creep over me through the blinding pain, several military helicopters touched down on the lawn.
