"He's not worth a second thought!" Stacey said with disgust, the embarrassment from the past still fresh in her mind. Conor couldn't help but feel a strange sense of satisfaction upon hearing her insult Matthew.
"Yeah, he's nothing special," Conor responded with a mysterious smile. Stacey looked at him, puzzled by his amusement.
"Get in," Conor opened the car door. They both got inside. Stacey couldn't resist asking, "Why were you here?"
"Matthew invited me. How could I turn down his invitation?" Conor buckled his seatbelt, glancing at Stacey as she seemed confused.
"Need help with your seatbelt?" Conor asked, narrowing his eyes slightly. Stacey paused, realizing she had forgotten to buckle up. She hurriedly did so, not wanting to give Conor another chance to get close.
