Stacey snorted, her voice icy, "Miranda Ravenscroft, shame on you. Thinking you can call yourself Stacey's mom? No matter how you try to dress it up, a wicked stepmom is still a wicked stepmom. You send Stacey to the countryside, tossing a measly ten grand a year to the poor saps who took her in. And you, as loaded as you are, think that's enough? Don't you feel even a bit embarrassed?"
"Ten grand is plenty for the sticks. Besides, she was just a kid. What big expenses could she have had?" Miranda shot back defensively.
Stacey laughed sarcastically, "The point is, when she needed medical help and cash for treatment, didn't this family ring you up? And didn't you say you were broke? Didn't you say they should deal with it alone?"
