Sam's face came into view and you tried to focus on his voice, "Sam? Damn that hurt."
Squeezing your eyes shut you tried to calm your breathing. Looking back up you noticed Sam's eyes beginning to water, "Come on Sammy, don't get soft on me now." Moving your body some you realized you could still feel everything. Sam noticed you trying to sit up and slowly helped you, looking down you saw that the bullet went into your side. Sam helped you to stand, you had to lean your weight on him as you held your hand to your side.
"Okay Sam, tell me now, is there an exit?" Keeping a tight hold on you he checked your wound. The look in his eyes when he met yours told you there wasn't. "Awesome, alright lets get out of here before I bleed to death." Slowly you both made your way out to the car. Wrapping your jacket around your midsection tightly to put pressure on the wound you laid across the back seat. Sam jumped into the car and started the engine, stomping on the gas he made his way back onto the road and towards town.
Laying your head back on the seat and closing your eyes you tried to focus on your breathing, not the pain. Unfortunately every bump Sam hit reminded you of it. You heard Sam talking to someone and opened your eyes to look over, it looked like he was yelling into his phone.
"Dammit Dean we couldn't wait! They were ready to kill her! It's not like I planned to get Y/N shot Dean! Just meet us at the motel and get everything ready, we'll be there in five minutes." By now night had fallen and you couldn't help but notice the bright lights flying past the window.
Sam tightly gripped the wheel and looked at you in the rearview mirror, "What the hell were you thinking Y/N, you could have died!" You knew Sam wasn't mad at you, just scared. Reaching over with one hand you laid it on his shoulder and squeezed, "You should know by now I'd never let anything happen to you Sammy. I couldn't just stand by and watch her shoot you. You'd have done the same for me." You were finally starting to feel the effects of the blood loss and your hand slipped and fell to your side as your head dropped.
Sam began to panic, "Y/N! Stay awake we're almost there!"
You felt the car jump a curb and come to a screeching halt. Not even a second later your door was thrown open and a familiar scent bombarded your nose. Warm hands cupped your face, "Baby wake up, come on look at me Y/N." Opening your eyes slightly you saw two unbelievably green eyes full of worry staring back at you.
Smiling you leaned into Deans touch, "We got em babe, they were just shitty humans." Dean chuckled, kissing your forehead and reaching inside the car he carefully picked up your body and began carrying you into the motel room. Laying you gently on one of the beds you heard him yell at Sam to grab some towels. Looking up to stare at the ceiling you noticed the water marks, they really should fix those. Dean lifted your shirt to expose your wound, when he saw it he cringed. Luckily for you it wasn't buck shot but since there was no exit wound he would have to retrieve the bullet still inside your body.
Reaching beside him he picked up a bottle of whiskey, holding your head up he guided the bottle to your lips, "Come on baby take a drink for me it will help with the pain." Sipping at it you began coughing which only made the pain more intense. "Just get it over with Dean, I can take it."
You felt Deans hand cup your cheek, "That's my girl." Sam came back and knelt beside his brother. Taking hold of your hand in his he watched Dean work to find the bullet lodged in your side. Wincing when he hit a sensitive spot you groaned, black dots in your vision making you shut your eyes. "I'm almost done baby hang in there I know it hurts. Your doing great."
A moment later you felt him pull out the forceps, you heard something fall into a small bowl and assumed it was the bullet. "Dean, is it in one piece? You have to make sure there aren't any shattered pieces before you stich it..." Sam said worriedly.
"I know Sammy, its not broken. And it doesn't look like anything was punctured. Hand me the whiskey."
Suddenly you felt something that felt like liquid fire being poured onto your wound, "Son of a b***h that burns!" You couldn't help the tear that slid from your eye and down to the comforter under you. Dean winced at the pain you were in, "I know I just gotta stich it and you'll be fine." After a few quiet minutes the pain was still there but dulling. Sam stood to retrieve some pain killers and water.
As Dean finished the last stich he looked up to your face, you opened your eyes and gave him a small reassuring smile. "I'm fine Dean, no harm done." He grabbed your hand and kissed the back of it. Sam cleared his throat, "I'm gonna go grab us some food, Y/N, thanks again. I owe you one." Looking at the tall moose you smiled, "You don't owe me anything Sammy. And don't forget the extra fries this time!" Sam chuckled and nodded. Setting the water and pills on the nightstand he grabbed his coat and walked out the door.
You sat up slightly and winced at the pain, Dean immediately stood up and pushed back against your shoulders, "Whoa babe stay down, you don't need to be moving yet." Looking up you rolled your eyes, "Then could you help me out, I really want out of these bloody clothes." Dean nodded and walked to your bag to grab some pajama pants and a tank top for you. Carefully so you didn't bust your stiches he helped you change and get comfortable sitting up slightly against the headboard with some pillows supporting you.
Reaching over you grabbed the painkillers and water Sam left for you. Taking them you relaxed against the pillows and watched Dean clean up the bloody towels and first aid supplies. He was silent and avoided looking at you as he worked. You knew Dean well enough to know now that you were okay he was silently blaming himself for not being there.
"Dean"
He made a sound that he heard you but kept cleaning up. Rolling your eyes you tried again, "Babe, come here." He looked up and his eyes met yours. Putting down the items in his hands he walked over to the bed and sat beside you. Reaching forward you took his hand in yours and tried to look him in the eyes, his gaze remained on your hands. "Babe I know what your thinking, and there isn't anything you could have done. Even if you had been there I would still have done the same thing over again. He's your brother, I would never let anything happen to Sam, I know how much he means to you."
At this Dean looked up, for the first time you noticed the shine his eyes held, "What about what you mean to me Y/N? I could have lost you today, you were shot saving my brother. I should have been there, Sam should have known to wait for me or at least watch out for the lady, or"
"Dean stop," You squeezed his hand and used your other one to cup his face. "Like I said, I wouldn't change what happened, and you know why we went in. We knew they were going to kill her, I just wish we could have stopped him sooner."
Letting out a sigh Dean relaxed some and leaned forward to softly brush his lips against yours, "Thank you, I don't know how I ever found a woman like you. I know I sure as hell don't deserve you."
Grinning you moved your hand behind his head to run your fingers through his hair, "You deserve me and so much more Dean Winchester, and if I have to I'll spend every day proving it to you." Dean smiled and carefully crawled to lay beside you. Being careful of your side he wrapped you in his arms and buried his head in the crook of your neck.
"I love you Y/N."
"I love you too Dean."
A/N
So thoughts? Not one of my favorites I've done but I really wanted one that showed how much the reader cares for Sam. Personally I feel like anyone Dean ends up with has to be a protector to Sammy too.
