Sam x Reader
Reader misunderstands one night while eavesdropping on Sam and Dean.
The growling in your stomach eventually became too much to ignore. You and the boys had gotten back to the bunker late last night after a pretty intense witch hunt. In the end the b***h was dead but before that happened you'd gotten in the way of a pretty powerful spell aimed at Sam. Once it hit all you could register was pain, it had felt like fire coursing through every vein in your body.
Luckily for you Dean shot her while she was distracted and as soon as she died so did the pain, but you'd needed time to recover. The spell took its toll on your body and now you were waking up after sleeping for almost ten hours according to your phone. Sitting up you felt somewhat sore but figured it was nothing you couldn't handle. Already dressed in a long sleeve shirt and leggings you pulled on an old worn out pair of converse and began heading towards the kitchen, praying for once there was food already here.
As you passed the main room you overheard the brothers talking, slowing down you realized it sounded more like they were arguing. Stopping outside the door you couldn't help but listen in.
"Damnit Dean I'm not gonna do it, you saw what happened last night she took that spell for me!"
"No s**t Sam she cares about you! I don't understand the problem here!"
Confusion set in, they were arguing about you saving Sam? Of course you'd done it there was no other option. You'd always had feelings for the giant and knew you would never hesitate to save him when given the chance.
"Dean, I know she cares about me, I just wish she wouldn't. It'll only end bad for her."
I knew he would never want to be with me. Not needing to hear anything else you quickly continued down the hall, past the kitchen and towards the garage, your appetite suddenly gone. Reaching the garage you made your way outside through the small side door.
You weren't upset with Sam, you'd always known he deserved someone amazing. From the moment you met he held a special place in your heart. The way he got excited when he learned something new, that adorable bashful smile he had, and the way he always listened when you needed someone to talk to, about anything at all.
Its fine Y/N, you knew this was going to happen, and its not like he said he didn't want you around. Looking up you realized it was raining steadily, thunder rumbled every few seconds. You'd always loved storms, they brought you a sense of calm amidst all the commotion. Walking forward out into the rain you crossed your arms over your chest. Kicking rocks and stepping in puddles you became engrossed in your own thoughts.
The feeling of rain hitting your skin and running down helped to center your mind, allowing you to think clearly about what you had heard.
Sam was an amazing man and hunter, he would find someone one day, it just wouldn't be you. As much as you tried to convince yourself you saw this coming it still hurt, more than you thought it would. Being so focused on your own thoughts you never heard your name being called out behind you.
Suddenly you felt someone grab your arm and turn you, reacting the only way you knew how you tried bringing your arm up to hit your assailant but stopped when you looked up to see a worried Sam standing there.
"Sam?"
"Y/N what the hell are you doing out here?"
Shrugging you once again crossed your arms, looking down you kicked a rock beside your foot, "Just out for a stroll in this beautiful weather. What are you doing here?"
Sam took a step forward, "I heard the garage door close and followed you, I-I know you heard me and Dean."
Tensing up you took a step back, "It's fine Sam, don't worry about me I'm a big girl." Turning around you tried to continue walking forward when you were once again stopped.
Pulling your arm Sam began dragging you towards a large tree. Stopping underneath he leaned back against the trunk and pulled you forward until your chest was against his. Being this close made your senses go wild, you couldn't help but love the feeling of being in his arms.
"Um, Sam you know in a storm this is one of the worst places to be right? Trees tend to draw lightening..."
Smiling Sam nodded, "I know but I need to tell you something and it can't wait until we get back. What exactly did you hear in there?"
Looking down and focusing on the button in front of your face you took a deep breath, "You wished I didn't care about you."
Sam tensed slightly, tightening his hold on you, "That's it?"
Looking up at him in confusion you narrowed your eyes, "Was I supposed to wait around for a marching band to go with that announcement?"
Reaching up a hand to brush the wet strands of hair from your face Sam shot you a half smile, "Well, first off I'm sorry that's what you heard. Second, if you had waited a little longer you would have known why I wish you didn't care for me. Every woman I've loved has died or left me, every one. I have loved you from day one Y/N, and I knew as soon as I realized that how dangerous it was. I ca-I can't stand the idea of something happening to you just because your with me."
The feeling of relief washing through you was intense, it wasn't that he didn't feel the same way, he was just scared. Reaching up to place a hand on his neck you began running your thumb along his jaw, watching as his eyes closed and he leaned into your touch. "I'm not going anywhere Sam, there's a difference between those other women and me." Waiting for him to open his eyes you smiled at him.
"I'm a hunter, just like you. And I will fight with everything I've got to stay here, with you."
Sam shook his head slightly, "If anything happens..."
Using the hand on his neck you quickly pulled him down to your lips, he seemed shocked at first but a second later tightened his hold on you while bringing his other hand up to cup your face. Pulling back you smiled, "We're hunters, theres always gonna be the chance of something happening. Why not enjoy the time we've got?"
He seemed to think it over for a minute before you could see the acceptance in his eyes, smiling wider than you'd seen in a long time he picked you up and spun you around and out back into the rain. You could feel his deep laughter rumbling in his chest.
Setting you down on your feet he kissed you once more, holding your face in his hands, rain drops falling down both your faces. Pulling back he kissed your forehead and took your hand, walking backwards towards the bunker he shot you a grin before leading you back home. Damn I love a good storm.
I have mixed feelings about this one, I really want to do more Sam shots and even some Castiels but being a Dean girl I gotta find the right setting. Please feel free to comment or make suggestions!
