My Love,
I know we promised that we would be together always, however, my father has now promised my hand in marriage to someone else; as a way to further solidify alliances between my family and his. I have never even heard of this man -- or boy--even mentioned once! What if he is old, fat, and ugly! What if he is a mere child! Please! If there is anything you can do to save me from this nightmare, please do it quickly!
I do not want to marry him; I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Alas, it shall not be.
Someday, perhaps in another life, I will be able to be with you. I wish it were in this life. If only there was a way to make my father realize that marrying for love rather than an advantageous alliance is better for both parties.
You know that it matters naught to me, but I do wish, if only for the thought that we might be allowed to marry, that you were of noble birth.
I will always love you, no matter what happens. You are the one that my heart longs for.
Love always,
Jennette
P.S. meet me by the creek behind you hut, at midnight. I will say my final goodbyes there. I will bring your favourite dessert and ale with me, just remember to bring a blanket.
