“Where is the damned General?” the Captain of the squad screeched for the third time. Her hands stained with dried blood, she cradled Blake in her lap like he was her precious child. The woman at the door peeked outside and sighed. “No sign of him yet.” “Damn it!” “I-It’s okay,” Blake mumbled softly. He had settled since they put him on a gurney and the doctor had given him some painkillers. She hadn’t managed to do much more and had rushed back to operate on the other victim. It had been a couple of hours since we’d seen her and Blake had grown very quiet and lethargic. I had no idea how long we’d all been sitting here but it wasn’t looking good for Blake.
