Chapter 4 He Can Stand Up

1435 Words
???? ????This strange and horrible thought only flashed through Stacey's mind for a split second, yet it took her three days to stop thinking about it. ???? ???? Terrified by her own thoughts, she felt like an ignorant girl who had been brainwashed. Just because she lacked love from her parents, that did not mean she should be falling in love with a serial killer! She shouldn't be that desperate for love! In these three days, Stacey racked her brain to come up with all sorts of methods to avoid Lucas. Although Lucas looked like anything but a serial killer, and she was willing to be his wife till the day she died, falling in love with him was the last thing she wanted! At least, not for now. In a bar named The West, the deafening music with emphasized baseline mixed with the laughter of the people as they indulged themselves in alcohol. Rationality and dignity seemed to be abandoned the moment people entered its doors. Stacey carefully maneuvered her way through the crowd. She came here to meet her best friend, Elise White, who grew up together with her. She had experienced too many things these days, and she needed a listener to vent her emotions. Otherwise, she was almost certain she was going to lose it. Elise loved two things more than money. One was dancing, and the other was drinking, and she often spent the night with different men. Hence, their rendezvous point was at the bar. Stacey looked room by room for Elise and finally found her surrounded by a group of men in a room filled with smoke. It was too noisy in the bar, and there were too many men surrounding Elise. Thus, after sitting down, Stacey barely talked to Elise at all and was focused on drinking. As time passed, Stacey lost count of how many glasses she had drank. Her vision had blurred, and alcohol had numbed her taste and dried her throat. In the end, she couldn't even form a complete sentence. At some point, Elise and those men had disappeared. Only a man who called himself Mr. Curry stayed with Stacey. "Mr. Curry... W-Why didn't you leave with Elise?" Stacey put down the glass, looking at the man with dazed eyes. Looking at Stacey's alluring lips and the looming skin under her collarbone, Mr. Curry swallowed hard. Recalling that man's orders, desire filled his eyes, and his movements became even more unbridled. The next moment, he moved closer to Stacey and put his arm around her shoulders. "Well, who's gonna accompany you if I leave? You seem so down, so how about we do something fun?" As he spoke, his hand on Stacey's shoulder slowly moved down to her breasts. The sensation in her private area startled Stacey, and she instantly sobered up a little. Sensing the danger, her face paled, and she hastily jumped out of the couch. "Stop there!" Terrified and enraged, her hands trembled. "Stay away from me! Help!" "Help? Let me help you." True to his words, Mr. Curry screamed, "Help! Someone's r****g! Help!" He paused, then said, "Is that what you want? I suggest you give up. Even if you scream your throat dry, nobody will hear it, and nobody will save you." Indeed, it was quiet outside the room. Stacey's heart skipped a beat. At this moment, she realized that she had been set up. Who set her up? Was Elise in on it? However, Stacey had no time to dwell on the answers right now. Mr. Curry walked closer to her, forcing her to lean against the wall. When she was about to be caught, she found the door of the bathroom. The next moment, she hurriedly pushed open the door, rushed in, and closed it as quickly as she could. Mr. Curry yelled outside, pounding on the door like a madman. Stacey's entire body trembled violently with fear, and she only calmed down after a long while. The door would be smashed soon, and she must call for help, pronto. Fortunately, she still had her phone with her. With shivering hands, she took the phone from her pocket in a panic and called the first person who came to mind--Lucas. For some reason, he was the first person she thought of calling when she was in danger. She didn't even call the police. Did she really trust him that much? However, before Lucas answered the call, the door was open. Mr. Curry grabbed Stacey's wrist, throwing her to the sofa. "Aha, little girl, nowhere to run now, huh? Although Someone paid me to do this, I'm going to do it my way... Here I come... It's gonna hurt a little..." "No! Don't! Let me go!" Mr. Curry pinched Stacey's breasts with no mercy, and it hurt so much that she almost fainted. With the sound of fabric being torn, Stacey's dress was ripped open, revealing her entire chest. She broke down, wept, and cried the first name that appeared in her mind. "Help! Lucas! Save me!" Mr. Curry paused. Apparently, this name had induced fear in his heart. Stacey didn't miss such a good opportunity and kicked Mr. Curry's crutch with her knee. Being kicked in the most vulnerable part of a man's body, Mr. Curry screamed. Seizing this chance, Stacey pushed him away and ran out of the room at full speed. However, the excessive alcohol she had consumed earlier made her footsteps slow and rigid. It was as if the corridor of the bar was so long, almost endless, like the haunted corridor in her dream. Maybe it was because she was too drunk and ran too slow, or perhaps the floor was too slippery. When she finally reached the elevator, Mr. Curry caught her and pressed her on the floor. "You think you can run, b***h? I'll show you what you get for running!" Irritated, Mr. Curry gave Stacey a hard slap. He used so much strength that Stacey's head was shaken away, and her ears buzzed. Tears welled up in her eyes. Mr. Curry was going to give her the second slap when the door of the elevator opened. The dark corridor was suddenly lit up. In the light, Stacey saw the familiar wheelchair, and she raised her head in disbelief. Maybe the slap had given her a concussion; in her blurred vision, she saw Lucas stand up from the wheelchair. The next moment, she smelled a familiar scent and lost consciousness. When Mr. Curry recognized Lucas, he got up hastily and stepped back like a terrified rat, breaking out in a cold sweat. Lucas stood up and handed the sedative back to Owen. Then, he picked up the blanket he usually used to cover his legs to wrap Stacey's half-naked body, carried her in his arms, and went back to sit in the wheelchair. Throughout the process, he maintained a calm expression. His appearance was impeccable from top to bottom, and his actions were gentle and elegant. Despite having a person lying on his legs, his clothes were not wrinkled. He was sitting, and Mr. Curry was standing. Yet, his presence seemed immensely taller, like a king looking down at Mr. Curry from above. Even without speaking, his gaze was like a bolt of lightning, striking down on Mr. Curry and making him terrified. ????He glanced at Mr. Curry. His eyes were filled with coldness, disdain, and indifference. It was as if he was looking at a sewer rat, barely worth his time. ???? ???? "Mr. Anderson! I'm sorry!" Facing Lucas' glance, Mr. Curry knelt on the ground. Everyone in this city knew how ruthless and vengeful Lucas was. No one had ever gotten away after offending him. Mr. Curry continued, "Your elder brother ordered me to do this. He paid me and asked me to r**e this woman, but he has never told me she's your woman. I wouldn't have dared to do this if I had known!" ???? ???? He crawled over to grab Lucas' leg but was stopped by Owen. Owen caught his right arm, bent it backward, and broke it with ease. "Ah!" Mr. Curry's scream echoed in the corridor. Likely startled by Mr. Curry's scream, Stacey suddenly started shaking her head and struggling crazily even though she had yet to regain consciousness. Lucas frowned and gently touched her hair to comfort her. When she calmed down, he covered her ears with his hands and turned her head to his arms. "He's too noisy. Shut him up forever." This was the first sentence he had said today.
