Stacey was flabbergasted. She had no memories of ever taking naked photos with other men!
However, when she zoomed in and gave the photo a closer look, she could not deny that it was indeed hers. Even the clothes yesterday matched. And those three exact freckles on her thigh!
Her astonishment finally grabbed Lucas' attention. He yanked her phone, took a quick look, pulled himself out of her, and tossed the phone on the floor.
Quiet as the phone landed on the thick rug, Lucas still gave her a shudder with his slightly violent act.
Lucas shut his eyes. Twirls of deep breath sent his charming chest up and down, making him look like a furious lion.
Meanwhile, Stacey was like a shivering fawn about to fall prey.
However, even the weakest fawn had its fair right to fight back. Stacey exclaimed, "That's not me in the photos! Deciding to marry you means I'll never betray you! I'll never admit something I've never done!"
As he quickly dressed himself, Lucas moved back to the wheelchair nimbly. Stacey tried to help but was shunned.
He then proceeded to storm out of the room without saying another word.
However mad Stacey was, all she could do was to pick up her phone.
This was when she saw the blackmail from Fiona: Nah. Ten mil isn't anywhere near enough. I want fifty now. Let's think about how this picture gets to be on the cover of all kinds of media. The wife of Lucas, lady of a hundred-million-dollar dowry, exposed as the heroine of a gang bang shot... What a title. Anyway. Fifty mil or a shitstorm. Your choice.
Those vulgar words were too heavy for Stacey to bear. She could hardly imagine that such blackmail came from her very own sister, whom she grew up with.
No matter how hard she tried to calm herself down, she failed, and unprecedented fury rose in her heart as she replied: That's not me but you in the photo, right?
Fiona was not shy about confession, either: You're absolutely right. So what? Dear sister mine, do you dare to tell your man that you've got a sister who looks almost identical to you? Mind if he does his homework and figures out that you were the faker while I was the one he chose?
Fiona's words hit too close to home. The more Stacey cared about Lucas, the more she worried about how Lucas would react to the truth.
This triggered a fear that haunted her more than Mr. Curry and his atrocity. The nude photos were even beyond Lucas' self-esteem to be worthy of a second look. H If he found out that Stacey had tricked him from the start, things would only become worse...
Fiona went on with the bombardment of blackmail texts. Stacey, on the other hand, got the room to cool herself down. She gave it a second thought and replied: f**k off.
She then put her clothes back on and let go of the buzzing phone. It wasn't her in the photo, anyway. All she cared about was if Lucas had misunderstood her. The world could say anything it liked.
When she tried to talk everything out with Lucas, she was greeted with a locked door.
"What the..." Stacey pulled on the door again out of disbelief, only to be greeted with the rattling of a chain outside the door. "Am I locked inside? Somebody help! I'm still in here!"
It was only after a long while of hysterical calls for help that she heard a reply under Lucas' command. "You are grounded for the day."
She could hardly believe her ears. Immediately, his image started to lose all the attraction. Never did she imagine that anyone would dare to imprison her!
Stacey went on with her screams for help, and this time, there was only silence. She could only give up and get back to bed and stare at the ceiling.
Time flew by. It soon went dark outside, but the noise started to grow.
She walked to the window walls. Through her patio fence and the thick rose bush in the garden, she saw a group of reporters with cameras and microphones trying to take a peek inside.
So, it seemed that the photo had already had its fair share of attention on the internet. How Stacey wished that she could rush out there and shout into every microphone at the gate, "It wasn't me in the picture! You got the wrong person!"
Little did she know that nobody would even listen to her. Neither she nor Fiona had any extra value to add to such a juicy scandal. All the eyes and money were on the keyword " Bluebeard's hundred-million-dollar dowry wife".
Stacey had hardly enough time to laugh about it when her door flung wide open. It was Owen.
"Madam," he hurriedly went through his courtesy and continued, "The reporters are gathering up out there. For your privacy, please follow me to a safer area."
Before she could ask where that would be, Owen reached out for the light on the wall and bent it downward. The floor below her feet caved in, and down she fell.
