Alpha Leonidas

We held the new moon festival every February. Just as humans celebrate New Year's Day, we werewolves honour New moon festival. During this season, werewolves from the five Packs gather to worship the moon goddess, strengthen bonds between packs and feasts with one another. Young cubs whom have come of age made their first shift this season. It's also the best time to find potential mates. This year's Moon festival had a spike in attendance. The five Packs had gathered in Alpha Randolph's mansion. It was a three-day ceremony. All the guests' chambers had been occupied. They filled even the hotels up so that more accommodations had to be vacant in order to accommodate our guests. “Kylie! Why haven't you finished washing the White Fur Pack's feet?” Beatrice shouted. “You lazy, fool. Run their bath. Get your ass to it.” “How long does it take you to dust the shoes of our guest? I'll have you punished.” I dreaded this day because our Luna made my life a living hell. She carried a whip around with her for me. If I wasn't quick with my task, Beatrice would lash the whip down my back. I haven't seen Alpha Gunner since the night he rejected me. He had been so busy he went ghost. There I was, kneeling at the entrance to the grand mansion, two large basins of water placed in front of me. I've cleaned and dried two hundred and eighty guests' feet. I was tired, hungry, and sore, but I dared not to take a break until I've washed up the last feet of our guests. It was the first day, and I was spent. The last guest I would wash their feet is the Blood Rose Pack. As the sun started setting down on the horizon, the Blood Rose Pack arrived. Now, each pack arrived with their signature cars. The white fur Pack drove in a silver Rolls-Royce each. Yeah, they were that filthy rich. The Black Claw Pack drove in Mercedes-Benz G-class. The Night pack rode in Porsche. It was a splash of show-off between each pack. But the Blood Rose Pack was different. Three 1970 Dodge Charger pulled up in front of the building. I was surprised. Just three? Where were the other pack members? One door opened, and that's when he stepped out. Alpha Leonidas. He took one step, and the atmosphere turned dark. He donned on a black suit, with a red rose pinned to his breast pocket. On his wrist, he wore a charm bracelet and beads. Alpha Leonidas walked up towards me, accompanied by his other companions—two of them. I watched him approaching, my eyes widening and my heart racing. His eyes were coffee black and soulless. Looking into those eyes were like peering into the abyss. And I've never seen such long, glossy dark hair. They cascaded down his shoulders like waves. He had a jade earring dangling in one ear. I could make out his tattoos peaking out of his collar and wrists. This was Alpha Leonidas, the cursed Alpha. He wasn't what I expected. Most alphas I've encountered were bigger. Heck, even Alpha Gunner was twice the height of Alpha Leonidas. Alpha Leonidas was leaner, taller and more shredded. What made Leonidas stand out from the other alphas was his curse. A cloud of darkness billowed around him wherever he moves. This was his aura. It was so dark and intimidating. It makes everyone's skin crawl. Alpha Leonidas stood before me, his eyes locked on mine. I struggled to avert his gaze, struggled not to meet those soulless black eyes, but I couldn't. I stretched out my hand to him. “W-welcome, Alpha Leonidas. Please… rest….your…feet on my laps… allow me to wash them.” Alpha Leonidas said nothing. He stared so hard at me I thought he would kill me. His aura increased, and I could feel the darkness wrapping around me. To my surprise, he squatted before me and took my face in his hand. He raised my chin up, his countenance dark. “Why the hell is my Mate washing feet?!” My mind went dull. I felt it too. The powerful pull between us. Alpha Leonidas was my Mate. * * * * Alpha Randolph shook hands with the other alphas as he welcomed them along with their pack to the ceremony. Standing beside him, Alpha Gunner stood tall and proud. He was dressed in a silver white suit, wearing his hair all back. The ballroom was filled with chattering and laughter as everybody mingled and clicked glasses. The band was playing some classic violin and piano classics. “Everyone is here,” Alpha Randolph whispered to his son. “All that is left is Alpha Leonidas.” “I pray that bastard doesn't show his face around here,” Alpha Gunner growled. “I hate how he always ruins the mood.” “Now be nice,” Alpha Randolph said. “For the sake of the new moon festival, bear with him until after the festival. He won't be staying long.” Alpha Randolph hadn't yet finished his word when the atmosphere changed. “He's here,” Alpha Randolph whispered. “I can smell him.” Alpha Leonidas' footsteps echoed through the hallway as he arrived with his two escorts. A hush silence traveled across the ballroom as soon as everybody watched him. His dark aura sent chills down the spine of everybody who gazed upon him. Alpha Gunner's eyes widened in surprise as he recognized me with Alpha Leonidas. “That's Kylie,” Alpha Gunner pointed his finger at me. “What is she doing with him?” Alpha Leonidas gripped my hand, then with slow calculated steps, he walked towards Alpha Randolph and Gunner. Everyone created a path for him to walk through. Alpha Leonidas didn't stop. He dragged me along with him to Alpha Randolph. “Alpha Leonidas,” Alpha Randolph greeted. “We were expecting you. Did that runt cause you any troubles on your way in?” Alpha Leonidas waved at me. “Why is she washing feet?” “That's because she's a slave,” Alpha Randolph replied. “It's her duty to ensure the guest's feet are washed and dried.” “I don't want her washing up anyone's feet,” he said, still gripping my hand tighter. “From now on, she'll serve only me.” Alpha Randolph was speechless and so was I. Who does he think he is to make such demands? Alpha Gunner stepped forward. He stretched out his hand and grabbed my other arm. I stiffened when I saw the hate in his eyes. “Sorry to disappoint you, Leonidas, but she's mine.” Tension rose in the hall as everyone watched the unfolding scenery. Alpha Leonidas didn't let go of my arm, and neither did Alpha Gunner. There I was caught in-between two Alphas. It felt as if they were about to split me in two. Alpha Randolph stepped in as fast as he could. “Gentlemen, let's not cause a a performance. Kylie is a servant in my household. She belongs to the South Pack. She's Gunner's servant.” Alpha Leonidas bared his teeth as his eyes went through the scars of whips, bruises, and wounds all over my body. “How much did you pay for her?” Alpha Leonidas asked. “I'll double the price and buy her off your hands.” “Keep your cursed money, and I'll keep my servant,” Alpha Gunner smirked. “Kylie is not for sale.” Alpha Leonidas's face darkened. “I only made the first offer because I'm being nice. You don't have a choice to decide her fate.” Alpha Gunner growled. “What's that supposed to mean?” “How do I say this,” Alpha Leonidas raised his chin and announced in a voice so everyone could hear. “She's my mate.”
