Chapter 09: The Inventions & Training - 1

Wade was very happy & at the same time, very disappointed. The reason he was happy was that Wade was in inventions heaven. Everything that he needed to create all the necessary things for his future tasks is all in one place. Some components like gears, modern tools & other stuff show that Jonathan was here before him. And again, many of the things were already made... Well, parts of it. He just had to put them together. But the reason he was disappointed was because of the following notification as soon as he entered the inventions room:

    "Congratulations. You have been promoted.

      Currently, you are in POTI ( Post of The Invention {I don't know why it's said like that.} )

       BUT BE CAREFUL!!!

        This is to notify you of the process of the invention. For creating something while & only in the           invention room:

        1. Make a list of whatever you will need to make an item.

        2. Find them in the room. If it's not there, you can go out & get them made by woodsman,           blacksmith & others capable of it.

        3. Both 1 & 2 won't matter if you don't follow this step & you will find a 1000% lack of efficiency &         durability. Always remember this:

            Everything will only last for a 10 minute usage time except for storage items."

"What is the use of creating when it won't last for more than 10 minutes?!" Wade yelled & kicked a chair or two. And just when he thought that the day was going perfect. But he calmed down pretty quickly. Because he learned from past encounters that freaking out will not do anything, rather make things worse.

As of now, before heading out to join Romilda in mapping out the castle, he decided to craft the following things:

1. A bag for storing everything. And that means everything.

2. An extra pair of wayfarers. No way Wade was going to go blind again. And Wade estimated that they were not a 10-minute thing. Because it already has been almost four hours since he wore the ones he is already wearing.

3. An armor that he can actually wear. No way was he wearing that heavy-duty armor again.

Now, Wade had to make a list of what he needed to make each of the things. Wade didn't understand why he couldn't just get to it. But he had to follow the rules. So he made the list which looked like this:

For the bag:

1. Leather in the required shape.

2. Stitching materials.

3. Buttons & Ropes.

For the Wayfarer:

1. A optic frame (plastic will be good)

2. Lens (Actual lens are not necessary as it will only act as the screen of the integrated HUB)

For the armor:

1. Lots of clothes for good looking. Apparently, that is a tradition around here.

2. Metal stringing. This will give protection from damage when he will make thin multiple layers. It is very effective.

3. Metal. Probably need to craft from a blacksmith to make shields, buckles, boots & stuff.

Now all he needed to do was find all of them. But it happened a bit differently. As soon as he finished the list & put the last full stop, the list suddenly disappeared. "Where is it?" Wade said.

And to his amazement, he found it in but not the list, all the stuff in the list. Everything that he wrote came back in stuff. Even the metal parts which he thought he needed to go to the blacksmith for. That means it was lying around in the room. And convenient for Wade too. Now Wade can get on building up the stuff he needs.

It took at least an hour. Wade was not an expert craftsman at all. But he managed to make a not too shabby pair of Wayfarers, a very strong bag, & an armor which roughly looks like the ones in the games. And as soon as he finished making everything, another notification popped up. It was like this:

    "I have no idea you would turn out to be quite an inventor.

    Congratulations, you have created two of the ten damage-prone objects you can utilize in Evaelona.

    5. Armor.

    9. Wayfarer.

    Damage-prone objects: Unlike the 10 minutes usage objects, these will have a duration of being damaged while in battle or any other dangerous situation. So, be cautious of them for longer use."

"Finally, something good. I can work with damage-prone," he thought.

Now, Wade had to get ready. Only one to two hours are left before Wade needs to head out to meet Romilda & learn to sneak on others.

Moonlight nights might be a specialty of Evaelona. Because every night, as far as Wade can see, it's always a moonlight night. And they are one of the most beautiful nights. In Evaelona, that is ten times better. Even when Wade is going to attempt a very risky infiltration to learn infiltration, he couldn't help but take in the beauty of the nights.

"Enjoying the views, I see."

Wade turned. It was Romilda. But not Romilda. She doesn't even look like the Romilda that Wade knows. Her disguise is so heavy & appealing that she blended herself as one of the castle housekeepers.

"Well, no one can overwatch something of this intense magnificence."

"I know. So, shall we begin?"

"What should I have to do?"

"Just stand still while I fix something." Then Romilda chanted, "HearFar." And then Wade was able to hear the voice of Romilda even when she was going away from him. "Is it working?" she whispered.

"Yes. I guess." And at that moment, another notification appeared:

    "Spell learned:

      HearFar: Who would have known that radio communication could be made wireless in Evaelona by magic. Use this spell to communicate with others even in distances that you can't imagine.                         But you must chant it once in the presence of the person that you wish to communicate with.

    Mana Consumption: 100."

"I know a spell? I have to have a look."

But from the other side, Romilda with a tedious tone, said, "Later. Now concentrate. Or else you will get caught."

"Right. What should I do?"

"Just go on. Observe your environment & map up everything on your brain. Stay alert & stay away from others. Move as if you are a part of the castle. Use your surroundings to your best to conceal yourself. I will be around following you, guiding you when needed."

Wade was outside the main castle gate at the present. And he devised a plan to start from the top of the castle, the invention room. But he couldn't barge into the castle just like that. And that's where infiltration comes into effect. And another tool that Wade liked very much was the ability to move, jump dive. Which is called parkour in Wade's world. Utilizing it, Wade toppled over the main gate & started to climb the castle walls.

As Wade was climbing, Romilda said, "You should probably get over the top of the castle first. I mean the very top. the outer sketch of a map is just as important as the inside."

"Huh. I didn't even think about it. I am going to the top anyway. I decided to start at the top."

Reaching the top, Wade felt the cold breezing air. It was elegant & soothing. He could have been there for at least an hour. But he had a job to do. So he started to observe the castle grounds & plot everything into his mind. That took him ten minutes. Then a notification popped up:

    "Stored: Map fragment of the outer grounds of the castle of King Leonard Bard II, Trada, Evaelona."

"Convenient." Then he worked his way to the invention room. From now on Wade needed to be a lot careful as to not attract any unwanted attention.

Going to the doors, he could hear two guards talking. HE had to distract them.

Romilda again started talking, "Use the ledges above to conceal yourself & make distractions."

Wade looked up at the sturdy ledges that kept the invention room together. Going up, he made some noise which alerted the guards & they came in to investigate. But finding nothing, they went away.

"Haha... Always works. Remember that most people will leave doors open after investigating. But they will reside nearby. So be alert."

Within two minutes, Wade plotted the whole invention room, the whole top floor & another notification appeared:

 "Stored: Map fragment of the invention room of the castle of King Leonard Bard II, Trada, Evaelona."  

Wade headed out through the door. He was looking here & there for guards. And as he was moving around the castle, he plotted the whole first floor. And a notification popped up:

 "Stored: Map fragments of:

1. The dining hall.

2. King Leonard Bard II's room.

3. Princess Martha Christines' room.

4. Weapons room.

5. Library.

6. Secret rooms x9

Romilda on the other side, who knows where she was, was impressed. She said, "Hmm... Not bad for a first-timer. You are doing pretty good."

"Thanks." But Wade knew this already as it was downloaded in his brain & he was utilizing it to learn more.

Wade was on the last floor. And he was amazed at the fact that the castle rooms were humungous & only three-storied. And it was a bit tricky too. Wade had to use the ledges more.

As he was going, Romilda on the other side said, "There is a conversation going on between the king & a guard. Try to eavesdrop on them without getting caught. And keep them on your tail for a minute."

But wait. There were no ledges left. Now what? Then Wade had an idea. He came down & instantly knocked the farthest guard down.

"OOOH! This is not what I intended to do."

"You didn't kill him. Just knocked him unconscious. Just all. He will wake up."

"I know. But this is not how I wanted to do this."

Wearing the armor of the guard, Wade began approaching the king. But as he was fifty feet in the vicinity of the king, he was blocked. The guards told, "Do you have a parchment to come on the aid of the king?"

"Yikes. Now what?"

"Hang on."

And with that, comes Romilda Annaway. She did nothing but just drop a lot of utensils & other stuff on the floor. And that was enough to move the guards away.

"Now is your chance. Go."

"What about you?"

"Relax. I am not there."

With that, he tailed the king. The king & the guard discussed nothing serious. But then they talked about Bart.

"Sire, are you going to do nothing about Bart & that treacherous Housden?"

"I am. I do want to move him. But he is beyond powerful. Only that lad Wade can decide the fate of the end of the misery of the Barton's."

"If you say so, I shall keep an eye on him. Might bring some valuable information."

"No, I trust him. He will do good."

With that, we parted our ways. And two notifications popped out:

    "You are becoming a favorite of the king.

      Trust increased by 5%"

    "Stored: Map fragments of:

    1. The king's court.

    2. Hallway of ancestors.

    3. Guards common room.

    4. Kitchen x9

    5. Resting rooms x7

    of the castle of King Leonard Bard II, Trada, Evaelona."

"Get out. Now!! We are compromised." said Romilda as she was panting on the other side.

Wade panicked but for a short time. The main castle doors were not far. And one of the castle house-keepers was going to go outside. Wade decided to jump & make a run for it. So, he positioned himself on a ledge close to the main doors. And after a couple of minutes, the doors were opened wide. And as soon as it opened, Wade ran for it.

"What the..." And out of nowhere, smoke covered the guards & Wade left them in the dust. Sort of.

At the tavern, both Romilda & Wade were enjoying a drink. Not beer, but water. They decided not to go berserk.

"I am very impressed. You know, even Cormack wanted to learn the arts of infiltration. But it took him 3 years to learn it. I suppose you were born with the gift of spying."

"Maybe. But I couldn't plot the basement."

"Don't worry about that. I did it for you. You have completed one of the most dangerous infiltrations. It is known around here that the Trada castle is the most heavily guarded after the Bart castle in all of Evaelona. And you mapped three floors. So, I had to do something. It was ruining my name of being successful for the first time."

"Don't sweat it. Your advice was useful & I learned a lot Thanks."

And like that, a bunch of notifications popped up on the Wayfarer:

    "Congratulations. You have completed the infiltration with Romilda.

     Skills increased: Infiltration by 25%, Eavesdropping by 25%, Stealth by 25%

     Trust from Romilda Annaway increased by 15% (21/100 %)"

    "Congratulations. You have the map of the Trada castle.

     Rewards: Crafting power increases by 15% (15/2000 %)"

    "Congratulations. You have completed the following:

     1. Infiltrated the castle with Romilda & learned the art 

     2. Made a pair of Wayfarer & other stuff. Note that this will be finished when the quest will be finished.

    3. Gained the map of the Trada Castle.

    Rewards: 

    1. You can now use spells to utilize in your quest."

    2. Minute usage objects time increased to 12 minutes.

    3. Unlocked the title of the "Inventions" & also the room.

    4. Storage updated. Now you only need one to store everything you will ever have.

    5. No sight duration was reduced to 1 hour 30 minutes.

Wade was satisfied. Though some are not as good, he found better options & thus, he is happy. And he is ready to call it a day.

"Well, Romilda. I have nothing else to say but good luck. And prepare yourself for the journey."

"And thank you."

"For what?"

"For letting me teach you."

With that, both of them parted. And Wade was in worse shape. He had a long exhausting day & he was ready to hit the sack. And he was preparing himself mentally for the next day. A day in which no one can predict what will happen. Well, that remains to be seen. As of today, it's good.
