I am not your mate

1997 Words
It was Saturday, the day of the engagement party of Ivy and me. My father was still in one of the best moods I had seen him in years. He had laughed and patted me on the back when I had told him about the temporary mark that I had already placed on the princess. It was followed by him getting his ass drunk and passing out inside the living room on the big sofa. It was one of the most silent and relaxed nights of my life. And it had given me just enough power to keep on doing this. So, here I was, standing in a black tuxedo, waiting at the other side of my fiancé’s door. I took one final deep breath, trying to make myself ready to play my part once again, as I knocked on the door, only to open it a few seconds later without waiting for someone to call me in. Ivy was standing inside the room, being accompanied by her mother. I did feel sorry for her mother, she wanted to protect her child, her daughter. But she was just like me and Ivy, caught inside this web of monsters, monsters like my father and her very own husband, who had sealed our fates with their own greed. I looked over at Ivy, seeing that she was wearing a black dress, the color didn’t really suit her pale skin and blonde hair. And I found it hard to believe that she would ever be able to survive inside the Spike Pack. She just looked so vulnerable. But, I knew the black dress was needed to keep my father content, so I had urged the palace staff to just follow my lead and to take a black dress for Ivy to wear tonight. She might hate me for it, but it was for her own protection really. “Princess Ariana, would you mind if I have a moment alone with my mate please?” Her mother looked at me, afraid, almost as if she thought that I was about to kill her pup right in front of her. While, in fact, I only needed to remind Ivy of the monster that I could truly be. The monster that I had already become. When Ivy gave her mother a comforting nod, she stood up and left the room, leaving Ivy and myself alone. “Why are you here?” She asked me, sounding angrier than I had heard her speak before. “What? I can’t enter my mate’s room?” I asked in return, pulling up an eyebrow at her. “I am not your mate.” She spoke as she turned back around, to stare at herself in the mirror. “Not right now, but you will be very soon.” And I took her arm as I turned her around and made her look at me. She had a big mouth. If my father heard her speak to me like this, we would both be in so much trouble. I need to do something! Anything! “And before you put up a big mouth on me again, it was your own father who told me I should come and pay you a visit before the celebration started downstairs. Give me that big mouth one more time, and I will make sure it stays shut!” I almost spit at her, as I felt anger lit up in my eyes. She swallowed hard. I knew she wanted to say something to me, but she decided to stay quiet. Good! This means that we are safe, for now. So, I smiled, knowing that I had managed to get to this point. I made her fear me. Which meant that, in some way, she was safe and protected. The more she feared me, the safer she would be. “There, that’s a good girl.” I spoke, as I leaned in and placed a kiss on her lips to keep her quiet, feeling once again, that this girl did nothing for me. She didn’t spark any feelings inside of me. She just wasn’t who I wanted her to be. She’s not my mate! Why do I feel as if I am cheating on my mate? when I have never even had the chance to meet her? “Now, let’s go downstairs and see who is all here to celebrate with us.” I sighed, as I made my way downstairs, knowing that the charade was about to start again, for a very long time. Once downstairs, I did all the things that my father had taught me to do. I was evil, angry, I didn’t let any other males within a close distance of Ivy. I made sure that everyone feared me. And every time I peeked over at my father, he seemed happy and content. Telling me that for once in my miserable life, I was doing a good job. I was making my father proud. Finally. Another thing I had grown to learn, was that Ivy and I had zero things in common. We didn’t speak, we didn’t share a laugh, we just stood there next to each other. Awkward as hell. My own wolf had even disappeared from me in this stupid ass situation. "Would you mind if I went to the restroom really quickly?" I was startled, hearing Ivy ask me something out of nowhere. But I also knew, that if this was my father, the answer would have been 'no'. He would have barked at her to stay put and pee on the floor if she had to, but she wouldn’t move a damn inch from where she was standing. "I'm sorry, I really need to pee." She brought out as she looked back at me in awe. Fuck! I am not my father. I am not some lunatic who doesn’t even let his fiancé go to the restroom when she needed it. I already knew that my father would give me hell over this… "Fine." I growled at her, hoping she would still know that I was in charge here. "If you aren't back within five minutes, I am coming down there to get you myself." she nodded, and immediately started to walk towards the restrooms, leaving me behind, finally giving me the chance and space to breathe. My father and Stan Black joined me, as they were talking with me over pack deals, business deals and even giving me tips on how to please a woman in my bed. Like, seriously? I don’t need any tips from these old assholes. I’d rather have my d**k falling off, Thank you very much! As time went by, I started to feel uneasy. My eyes scanned over the room, searching for my fiancé, who was simply nowhere to be found inside the ballroom. Where the f**k is she? Who pees for so long? I excused myself from my father and Stan Black, as I made my way towards the restrooms, where I crossed paths with a she-wolf who had just exited the restroom. “Sorry, is there anyone else still inside?” I asked her, seeing that she looked surprised that I had even made the effort to speak to her. “No Alpha, it’s just me. I would gladly accompany you back inside if you want?” She smiled at me. Seriously? Does she think I am asking her for a quick f**k? Are you f*****g kidding me? I stepped past her, hearing her gasp for air as I barged inside the ladies' room, where, just as I had thought, there was nobody, and especially, no Ivy. Shit! I am so dead! My eyes scanned every inch of the room, hoping that, by some miracle, I had looked past her, and she would magically reappear again. But she didn’t, she was gone. She had either run away from me, or she was taken by an enemy pack. FUCK! So, I did the one thing that would make sense to me right now. A fiancé that would have lost his mate would go insane, so that’s just what I needed to do right now. I needed to act as if I was losing my s**t, even though a part of me was happy that this had even happened to begin with. Maybe if she ran away far enough, I would be able to get myself out of this mess? So I leaned my head back and let out an almighty roar, one that made the castle walls shake and that would make all the guests shiver in fear. I kicked open the door as I ran back inside the ballroom. “WHERE THE f**k IS SHE?!” I roared again, seeing all the guests look at me with big eyes, even my father. Who had never looked at me like this before? Did I scare him? Good! I looked around in the ballroom, looking for a blonde wearing a black dress, but she wasn’t here, she wasn’t inside that room. Hell, I even wondered if she was still inside the palace, her scent, as I had started to know it, was flowing away fast. Which meant that she was getting away further and further. Good! This is really good! I ran up the stairs towards my father, telling him what had happened. He might have been angry with me over letting her use the restrooms, but if he was, he didn’t show me at the time. Instead, he placed all his anger onto Stan Black, who was standing on the other side of me, looking as if he was about to s**t his pants. “Where is your daughter?” My father growled at him, while Stan Black was also searching the crowds. “I have no idea Alpha, she was here just a minute ago.” My father growled, as he took another step closer towards Stan Black, and I believed that if there wouldn’t have been an audience right now, he would have lost his s**t. “We will find her, I swear!” Stan Black pleaded with my father. Making my respect for him sink deeply. Sure, Stan Black was a war monster if you believed the stories. But he knew very well that he was no match against a whole pack of rogues, he was no match against my father’s pack, and he knew it bloody well. And my father knew this as well, as the rage built up in his face. “Oh, believe me when I say you want to find her! A deal is a deal, we will hold up on our end of the deal. If you do the same, if not, heads will roll.” My father ended in another growl, as Stan Black cleared his voice to talk to the crowd inside the ballroom. “Dear guests, unfortunately, the party has to end sooner than we would have wanted. We want to thank you for coming. For security reasons, however, we do ask everyone to sign out before they leave the palace.” Stan Black then turned to face my father again. “In a few hours, we will know which packs have already left the party. One of them must have taken my daughter, I am sure of it!” My father nodded, still looking furious at Stan Black, as he patted me on the back and looked at me. “Let’s go son, we don’t need to wait around for this, I am drunk and I want a f*****g bed.” I sighed deeply, feeling some relief, but knowing that first thing in the morning, the gates of hell would be opened up again. I knew my father, and I knew he would not rest until we would have found Ivy. Even when I didn’t want to find her in the first place. I just prayed that by now, she would be far away from here.
