While I was in the bus, I actually noticed that each and every person travelling had a distinct smell on them. Some smelled like lemongrass… well most of them. There was a person that boarded the bus and I noticed that they smelled different. Their smell made me think that they don’t bath very often as it was somehow the smell of rot and decay, which made me uneasy. As soon as the bus stopped at my destination, I just sprinted all the way home. Now at home I was mincing the events and everything that happened this afternoon, still unable to understand what exactly can be the cause of it.
By this point, I am feeling frustrated and also agitated, so I decide that a good sleep, until my parents get home, will help me to put my thoughts in order, also will help me to get rid of the headache that was making itself comfortable. On my way to my room, I start feeling dizzy and everything around me start spinning as if I was drunk. With lots of difficulty I manage to get to my room and just end up tumbling in my bed.
The pain is getting even stronger, and I feel like something is trying to hack into my brain. It’s as if this thing is trying to make room or a channel to connect with my core memory… I am fricking out and don’t know what to do… so I pick up my phone and try calling my mom, but there is no answer, so I call dad, but the same outcome. Then, uncle Patrick’s number pops on my screen and I desperately press the answering button.
“Hey, little one, just wanted to wish you happy eighteenth Birthday!” His voice came through.
“Uncle Patrick, please help me… I don’t know what is going on… I feel like my head is going to split in two and someone or something is trying hack into my brain…” I stated sobbing. I could hear Patrick’s heavy breath on the other line, seemingly panicking as well, but when he spoke, he was calm.
“Ok, Carley! I know what you are going through. It is hard, but only because you are fighting her.” He said, making me even more confused… what does he mean “her”? Am I really hacked? Is that even possible? But due to the pain, all I could ask was “ What do you mean her?”
“She is your other half, she will keep you strong and safe, as you will keep her strong and safe. All I can tell you is, don’t hesitate and allow her to connect with you, that is why you are suffering. Do you understand?” he asked me to make sure I follow his train of thoughts.
“Yes, I understand.” I replied, a bit calmer, now that I had an idea of what state of mind I should be right now. “What should I do?” I asked Patrick, which breathed a sigh of relief hearing that I calmed down.
“Now, I want you to lie down on your back on your bed, close your eyes, and imagine a path. I want you to stay there on that path and wait, without fear. Don’t be afraid, you will meet a wonderful soul.” With that, he went quiet. I was keeping my eyes closed, and already being on the said path, waiting. It didn’t take long, when I noticed a presence making its way towards me. But it didn’t look like a human being, it looked more like an animal. The closer it was getting the easier is for me to see its features. It is tall, almost as tall as me, maybe shorter… 5’5? It really looks like a dog, from afar… no, scrap that… it is a wolf… now is getting even closer to me… almost… I can touch her now, also, I can see her distinctive features. She is 5’5 on all fours, her fur is a combination of black and white, mostly black, but she has a patch of white going across her snout and left eye, and her eyes are pure gold and shining in the dark. But I don’t feel afraid, just like Patrick told me. I can feel that she has been protecting me for a long time, without me knowing. All I can do is look at her in complete admiration. ‘Hi Carley, I can finally communicate with you. I am Ciel and I have been looking after you for many lifetimes. I am so happy to see you again!’ Her voice sounded etheric and looking closer, I noticed that she was communicating straight in my mind. ‘Hi, Ciel! You are beautiful!’ was all I could say back still transfixed by her beauty.
‘I am happy to see that you are not scared of me. In your previous life you were fricking out sooo badly!’ She says with a hint of laughter in her voice.
‘What do you mean, in a previous life? We have been together before?’ I asked innocently.
‘Of course! We have always been one. And I am so grateful to be able to walk with you in this life as well.’ She answered while approaching me and putting her snout under my hand as an indication for me to pat her. Which is exactly what I did. Her fur was so soft under my hand, feeling like silk. But what baffled me more was that I was already connected to Ciel and felt protective of her.
Patrick’s voice pulled me out of my daze. “I see you connected with your wolf mentally. Now I want you to ask Ciel how long until the second stage will start.” I was surprised that Patrick has so much knowledge about what I am going through. ‘The second stage will start at midnight, so a bit over six hours.’ Ciel answered before I could formulate the question. ‘How did you know what he asked, do you hear what I hear?’ I asked instead.
‘Of course. You are me and I am You. We connected and now we are one.’ She says with a smile, that I can mentally see.
“What did Ciel say?” Patrick asked.
“She says that it will start in about six hours at midnight. But how do you know her name?” I asked him, but all he answered was “I will be there. I am leaving now and will be with you before you start phasing.”
With that he cut the phone call short. Now left on my own, I started probing Ciel for more answers.
‘Ciel, how come, uncle Patrick knows your name?’
‘Well my dear, I am not sure you will want to hear this from me, so I think it is better to wait and ask the questions when all your loved ones get home.’ Ok, I was thinking, so Patrick is, indeed related to me. But why can’t I just get the answer now?
‘Umm! Just so you know, I can still hear you. You didn’t block me from your thoughts.’ Ciel interrupted my freight train, called overthinking.
‘Oh! So that is how is going to be from now on? I will have to block you from certain parts of my mind?’
‘If you want privacy, I’m afraid so!’
‘Not sure I would ever do that, but from time to time I would like you to ignore me. I do tend to overthink quite often.’ I told her while laughing.
‘Well, you have me now. I will always help you find the right answer. But that doesn’t mean that you have to always listen to me, as I will do the same.’ She stated while giving me a wolfish grin. ‘Oh! So that is how is going to be?’ I retorted laughing out-loud now. Our back ‘n forward was stopped when my phone rang. I looked at the screen and my mom’s picture popped up for the caller, so I picked up in a haste.
“Mom, hi! I tried to call you and dad, but I guess you were busy. Something crazy happened on my way home.” I started in one breath.
“OH! Honey, I am so sorry I wasn’t there for your first phase. I heard it all from Patrick. How are you feeling? Did you meet your wolf?” She asked concerned. But what is curious, like Patrick, mom is not at all surprised about the whole situation I am in.
“Mom, I am fine now! I had a very bad headache, but uncle Patrick told me not to fight it. But mom?”
“That is good to hear… What do you wanted to ask?” she cut my sentence, before realising I wanted to say more.
“Um, how come, you are not surprised at my condition and situation?” I ended my question.
“Honey, we and your father will tell you everything when we get home. It won’t be long. I will be home early that what I initially said. We finished early with the case.”
“What do you mean ‘we and your father’?” I asked confused but had an inkling that what they are going to tell me will change my life forever.
“I am so sorry, but this can’t be discussed over the phone. We will be with you shortly. Ok? Please, just trust me, what has been done was for your own protection. This is all I can say for now.” I could hear the pleading in her voice, which made me trust her, especially when I knew I was always loved and protected.
“Ok, mom! I will wait for all three of you to get home. I think Patrick will be here in about two hours as well. So, drive carefully, I love you!” my voice was calm and sincere.
“Ok, honey bun. I will be careful. See you shortly. Love you to!” with that, we ended that call.
I got up from my bed and made my way to the living room. Once there, I asked Ciel to give me a few minutes to myself to think about all I pieced together. And I reached one conclusion. Patrick was my real father.
