CHAPTER FIVE

Sophie's POV I backed away. My body was still aching from Damon, his c*m still dripping down my thighs. But I could feel something like adrenaline surging through me, you know. Something inside me had awakened, something hot, heating in my chest. The leader reached for me, and at that moment, my vision went sharp. I felt claws extend from my fingertips and without thinking, I slashed out. The man cried in pain as blood splattered across the room. Damon’s eyes went wide in shock from where he was. “Sophie...” he rasped. “You’re shifting...” More howls came from outside. Many more of them. No doubt the rival wolves had brought an entire hunting party just for two people. The power flowed through me like liquid fire. Right in my veins in lieu of blood. My fingertips burned as claws extended, sharp and tipped with gold. I had never seen anything like it before. The leader of the Shadow Pack wolves stumbled backwards, clutching his bleeding face where I’d slashed him. “What the f**k are you?” he asked. Fuck if I knew But for the first time since arriving at this mansion, I didn’t feel helpless. Damon was still on his knees, straining against the glowing silver net that burned his skin. His silver eyes met mine, wide with shock and something similar to pride. Well, who wouldn't be? “Sophie... run,” he rasped, his voice ladened with pain. I wasn’t running anywhere. Not while he was trapped anyway. I went straight for the nearest intruder, moving faster than I should have been able to. My claws slashed across his chest, tearing through his shirt and drawing blood. He swung a hand at me, but I dodged with a skill I didn’t even know that I had. “Get the girl!” the leader shouted. “She’s awakening!” Two more wolves charged at me. I backed toward Damon, getting afraid of that I had gotten myself into. My body felt like electric, all my senses were at top performance. I could smell their anger, hear their heartbeats, and feel Damon’s pain like it was my own. One of them grabbed my arm. I twisted and slashed again, but the third wolf tackled me from the other side. We crashed onto the floor, his heavy body pinning me down, his hot breath on my neck as he tried to subdue me. “Damon!” I screamed, like it was my last resort. Even trapped under the net, Damon jumped upwards, snapping the silver chains with his Alpha strength. The net broke. Within the next second, he shifted and tore into my attacker with savage. It was total chaos. Furniture smashed to bits. Growls and screams filled the room. I scrambled to my feet, claws still out, and helped where I could, slashing at their legs, distracting them so Damon could finish them off. Within minutes, the intruders lay dead or unconscious on the floor of Damon’s bedroom, their blood staining the expensive carpet. Damon shifted back to human form, breathing hard, completely naked and covered in blood again. He crossed the room in three strides and pulled me into his arms, almost crushing me against his chest. “You shifted,” he said. “Even partially. f**k, Sophie, you’re incredible.” His hands roamed over me, checking for injuries. Every touch sent sparks through my body. Despite the death and chaos around us, I felt wetness between my thighs as his c**k hardened against my stomach, still slick from earlier. “We need to go,” he said, but his mouth was already on my neck, sucking at the mark he’d left. “More will come. They know what you are now.” “What am I?” I asked, bending my head so to give him better access. My hands slid down his bloody abs, wrapping around his thick c**k. I stroked him slowly, loving the way he moaned into my skin. “Luna-blooded,” he rasped, f*****g into my fist. “Rare, powerful, and very fertile. The kind of female who can create an empire of Alphas, or destroy one.” He lifted me up, my back hitting the wall. My legs wrapped around his waist as he shoved my jeans down just enough. In one brutal thrust, he buried himself inside me again. I was going to have to get used to this. “Damon!” I cried out, nails digging into his shoulders. He f****d me against the wall like an animal, hips snapping with forbidden need. The wet sounds of our bodies filled the room. His knot was already starting to swell at the head of his c**k, teasing the entrance to my p***y with every of his thrust. “Gonna knot you again,” he said. “Fill you up until you’re dripping with me. Mark you so deep no one else will ever dare touch you.” “Yes,” I moaned, lost in the heavenly pleasure. “Please...” A loud alarm suddenly screamed through the entire mansion. The hallway was bathed in red emergency lights. Damon froze, still buried deep inside me. He looked toward the door. “Father activated the full lockdown,” he explained. “That means the entire pack is being called in, or the rivals are attacking the estate.” He pulled out of me reluctantly, both of us unhappy at the loss. We quickly got dressed, me in my torn clothes, him grabbing fresh pants and a black shirt. He tossed me one of his hoodies, and I realized the scent of him. “We can’t stay here,” he said, and grabbed my hand. “There’s a safe tunnel in the basement that leads deep into the forest. We’ll hide until I can contact my loyal wolves.” We went downstairs with tentative steps. The mansion was quiet except for the blaring alarm. Victor was nowhere to be seen. We reached the basement door when I heard footsteps behind us. “Going somewhere?” Victor asked from being. We both turned. Victor was standing at the top of the stairs, and he had four heavily armed pack members. His eyes glowed with the same silver as Damon’s, but less friendly. “Father,” Damon warned, pushing me behind him. “This isn’t the time.” Victor smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “On the contrary. This is the perfect time. Sophie’s power is awakening exactly as planned. And you, my son, you’ve already started the claiming process.” He raised his hand and the men wit him aimed weapons straight at us. “I’m sorry, Damon. But the prophecy demands sacrifice. Her blood will make me the strongest Alpha this region has ever seen. You were always meant to be the tool that brought her here, not the one who keeps her.” Damon started to shift, but when Victor pressed a remote, silver collars activated around the necks of his own men, and suddenly Damon cried out in pain as silver laced gas began to into the basement. He dropped to one knee, struggling to keep standing. I felt the power come alive in me again, but before I could act, Victor pointed his own weapon at me. “Don’t move, girl. Or I’ll put a silver bullet in your stepbrother’s heart right now.” I didn't move. Damon looked up at me, eyes filled with anger and fear, not for himself, but for me. “Sophie, run,” he gasped. Victor laughed softly. “She’s not going anywhere. Not when she’s already carrying the next generation of my empire.” My hand went to my stomach. No...
