Stephan didn’t know what he should do at all, his mind was stuck now. Moreover, because of his annoyance with Bella’s father, Stephan spontaneously agreed to all the most unreasonable conditions given to him by Mr. Swan. This was a matter that was far more terrifying than the rent arrears which were increasing day by day.
Until finally Stephen looked up to the sky, seeing how the snow was falling from the sky. His head hurt so much, and for some reason he now had such high hopes for God.
Yes, why was God unfair to him? He had grown up without parents until this moment and struggled to live alone until this moment, and now when he was about to feel happy with the woman he loved, again God seemed to test him in a very real way.
“If being rich is the answer to all my problems, God. So make me rich, make me the richest man on the face of the earth!” Stephan shouted.
He took another deep breath, then he stepped along the edge of the road. Until then Stephan seemed to hear faintly how there was quite a painful groan. Stephan then looked for where the sound was, until finally he saw the figure of an old man whose feet were buried in a large pile of wood next to the hardware store.
Stephan was shocked there, he immediately took action to remove all the wood as hard as he could. The old man was silent while looking at Stephan, his lips were blue. Stephan was sure that the man was cold.
“Are you okay sir? Sir, can you walk?” Stephan asked.
The old man smiled so sweetly, then he shook his head perfectly,
“I’m fine, sir. It’s really kind of you to help me.”
“Wear this coat, sir. I’m sure you’re cold.” Stephan then took off his coat and then put it on by the old man. Until then, Stephan was satisfied to see that old man felt warm.
“Thank you sir. You are a sincere person. Where is your house?”
“It’s still a long way from this district, sir. Do you need anything else?” Stephan asked again.
“Eat, I need to eat. Or at least, I need money to be able to go home.” The old man answered.
Stephan was silent for a moment, he didn’t have anything other than a piece of bread in his coat pocket and a gift that he had prepared to give to Mr. Swan.
“Um, if you are hungry, then take a piece of bread in my coat pocket, I saved that piece of bread for you, sir. Then…” Stephan stopped, he took a deep breath. “In the coat pocket there is also a gift box, if you sell it at the shop down the road, you will definitely get money for your fare home.”
“Then what about you, sir?” the old man asked Stephan again.
For a moment, Stephan was silent again, then he took a deep breath, smiling very kindly at the grandfather.
“I still have money left to go home, sir. So don’t mind me, as long as you can get home safely.”
The old man looked at Stephan with a warm expression on his face and then reached for something in his trouser pocket.
“I have a gift for you, sir. Keep this gift, open it later when you are home.”
“What gift is this? No, sir. I sincerely help you, and I don’t need anything in return.”
“Just keep it, sir. Who knows, maybe one day you might need it, this gift will be very useful for you in the future. Don’t you really need it now?”
Stephan frowned again, what did that old man mean? What did Stephan need? He needed money and being rich, not this small box.
Before Stephan had time to digest all the questions, he was immediately shocked by the figure of the grandfather who suddenly disappeared.
Stephan started to feel something a little scary there, he took a deep breath.
Was the old man human or not?
Stephan shook his head, he put the box his grandfather had given him into his trouser pocket. Taking a deep breath, Stephan continued walking through the snowy night until he actually arrived home.
When he got home, Stephan immediately threw himself on the bed and then … slept.
In the morning, Stephan intended to go to work. Now he no longer wanted to care about birthday gifts and so on, he had to focus on earning money so he can pay the rent arrears in full.
Stephan remembered the box that the old man had given him, so he took his trousers from the dirty clothes basket and took the box.
Stephan sat nicely on the bed, then examined the box, a carving with a triangle symbol in very real gold, until Stephan opened the box and was surprised to find out that inside the box there was a card. The card was big and thin, just like a credit or debit card, and there were also some shiny numbers on it, the card was gold in color and strangely, the card had his full name on it, namely ‘Stephan Barack’ and in the bottom corner of the card it said ‘unlimited’ there. Stephan was really curious, what card was he holding? A strange card that made Stephan really unable to guess what type of card it was.
Stephan then ignored everything, without thinking he put the card in his wallet, then he rushed off to work until finally in the middle of the road he was stopped again by a man who Stephan found very annoying.
“Why you are here? Bella isn’t with me.” Stephan said quite curtly.
Luis walked closer then he grinned at Stephan, his steps stopped just as he was standing in front of Stephan then he looked back at Stephan very sharply.
“A poor man like you is truly shameless. Look at your situation, you don’t even have a house, you only rent in rubbish rentals like that with jobs that are only part-time workers where even the salary for you to eat for a day won’t fill you up. Then you said so loudly to my uncle that you could have a savings balance of five hundred million dollars, own a company that would be successful in the future and buy a yacht as a dowry for your wedding with Bella? Tsk! What a beautiful dream you had, Stephan Barack.”
Stephan’s jaw tightened, he had no idea that Luis’s purpose here was to really embarrass him.
Stephan tried to ignore Luis, he tried to walk ahead of Luis. It was just that, when Stephan came forward, several thugs were already standing around him, and Stephan knew whose orders they were.
“Are you that cowardly, Luis, to bring all your thugs to surround me?”
“Tsk! There is no cowardice for trash like you. I was only given the task of eliminating you, and it is only right that trash should be removed.”
