REBIRTH AS THE LUNA

REJECTION

Lily and Zoe watched as Greg and Liam walked past them out of the Alpha's quarters. Victoria, who had been smiling since as if she won a lottery, walked out of Greg's room.

"Who is the dreamer now, girls?" She laughed with her gaze fixed on Lily. Zoe clenched her fist, she looked as if she was about to pounce on Victoria.

"Ooh, come on baby girl, do you think the great Alpha would go for a weakling like you? It doesn't sound right," she let out a chuckle.

"A Luna signifies royalty, power, and strength, you don't have any of these qualities so how should the moon goddess make the mistake of choosing you, except of course you were lying."

"Victoria, will you shut up already, all this babbling won't do you good," Zoe yelled.

"You think so? I'm carrying his child you know" Victoria grinned rubbing her hands on her flat stomach.

Lily wondered what her fate would be now, she was mated to the Alpha but he had another lady pregnant for him.

"We are not even sure the child is really for

the Alpha," Zoe mocked her. She was still laughing when Victoria slapped her, ouch!

Zoe made her face squint as her eyes widened, before she could react, she was surprised at Lily's next move.

Lily dragged Victoria's hair and pulled her to the wall, "I'm tired of your tantrums, you are pregnant for him fine, allow us to rest. You don't even know if he'll choose you." Lily yelled, it was clear she was about to cry. Lily was tired of Victoria's bullying.

"See who has the gut to confront me, because you think you are fated to Greg?" Victoria released herself from Lily's grip, and traces of shock filled her eyes. She never believed Lily could react that way.

"Just leave us alone," Lily said, her voice calmer than before. She held Zoe's hands and was headed for the door when Victoria stood in front.

Lily sighed.

"What do you want?" She eyed her.

"Let me make something clear to you, this pack doesn't need a weak omega as their Luna. Wait, how do you even think at times?" Victoria placed her palm on her forehead pacing up and down the passage.

"You are rich we get it, but deep down, you know you don't love Greg. You are just obsessed with being Luna, everybody knows that." Lily said.

"I don't have time for cheap sluts and gold diggers like you too, if you want to take a quick escape from poverty check another place." Victory said and left the both of them standing like fools.

The next morning, Greg was all dressed up ready to make his announcement. He wore a blue suit but without a tie, he wasn't in the mood for any dressing today. Greg was known as the king of good looks in Sunville.

Today was the day he would announce the woman he would get married to, his mother had been on his neck to get a wife, and not just any werewolf but the daughter of his father's best friend, Victoria.

He wasn't attracted to her, and this was the worst decision he'd make in his entire life.

The image of Lily filled his head, how was he going to get her out of his head and heart? Even his wolf was in love with Lily.

"f**k!" He smashed his knuckles against the wall. How would he forfeit true love, he loved Lily even though he had never told her, he was sure she knew.

"It's time, everybody is in the central area now." It was Liam, his beta.

"Okay," Greg stood up for them to leave the room.

"Are you sure you want to do this? I know you've never loved Victoria but I can sense you are attracted to Lily, and I must admit she's a responsible lady." This was the first time Liam was sounding sensible and he knew Liam was right but there were many things at stake.

He would be tagged a weak alpha and news would spread about the event. His father could even disown him and give the pack's leadership to someone else.

"Liam," Greg placed his hands on Liam's shoulder, "everything would be fine, thanks for standing by me."

"Good day everyone," Greg started, he roamed his eyes through the people present in search of Lily.

"I gathered you all here today to announce that I'd be getting married next week.

A loud applause filled the atmosphere, he could hear little whispers and mixed reactions.

Victoria stood from where she had been sitting, she walked to the podium where Greg was standing.

"What is she doing?" It was Zoe. Lily kept her head facing the floor, this was going to be the best day of her life. She would be mated to the Alpha of Sunville and all her pain would go away.

He finally spotted Lily, her eyes were filled with hope and joy. He was sad he had to do this but he had no choice.

"First of all, I have to do something," Greg said. There were murmurs from the pack members. Everyone was waiting to hear his announcement.

"I, Alpha Greg Payan of the Sunville pack, reject Lily Parker of the Woodville pack as my mate."

Lily felt her world crumble. How foolish was she to think she could enter royalty? Her face flushed with embarrassment, as she stood up to accept the rejection.

She looked at Greg and she could see that his eyes said a different thing from his lips.

"I, Lily Parker of Woodville, reject you, Greg Payan of Sunville as my mate."

Lily could feel Tera was hurting, Greg had shattered her and her wolf.

Run! Run! Run!

That was all that was in Lily's head. Without thinking, Lily took to her heels and ran away as fast as her legs could carry her.

Zoe turned to follow her best friend but changed her mind, she made her way past the crowd to where Greg was standing, "And where do you think you are going to?" Victoria walked in front of her to stop her.

"I want to speak to the Alpha, you should leave my way now before I make you lose that thing you have in your stomach," Zoe said with anger in her voice.

There were noises and murmuring from the pack, Greg knew he had to do something urgently. He hadn't announced his bride, he didn't feel like doing that anymore.

Greg was about to say something when Zoe pushed Victoria to the floor and whispered something to his ears.

"s**t! s**t!" Greg took his heel in the direction Zoe had gone.
