I rushed out of the room before my emotions could take the best of me. The past few days I had been running on adrenaline. All the events had me alert up and watchful, I did not have the time to process these weird feelings. Even as I put on a strong face for Preston when he’d just come from comforting Ivan, or when I had rushed down to find him in case he was outnumbered. When we had been on the road, I figured that I cared about them too much and it was a little scary. Sitting at the back with Dominic had helped me organize my thoughts a little bit. It was amazing how he could read the climate in the car as we drove for hours and hours. He simply just looked at me and smiled every now and then. Sometimes he would show me passing buildings or trees and he would pretend he was a fast car.
