Chapter 23
In spite of a light snowfall, Chiney pulled into the Roanoke Municipal Airport parking lot at 1 o’clock.
“Will you be back this spring to get Ole Cotton? He’s been pining for you. He wakes me up every morning crying ‘Sammmm, Sammm, I miss you Sammm’.”
“Yes, I’ll be back in the spring. I’ll call you in April and let you know exactly when.”
“I’ll be looking forward to it. You’re a good old soul Sam, and Fries appreciates what you have done.”
“Chiney, old buddy, thanks again to you. You’ll never know all the things you and the rest of Fries have done for me.” Sam said as he offered his hand and gave his new “old” friend a hearty shake. “I hope you’ll do one more thing for me. Take the car by and leave it for Karen Young. I’m giving it to her.”
