C H A P T E R 2:   Lyra POV   Many people didn’t believe in werewolves. They are just a work of fiction. But there is one question that always pops inside of my head and that is, why would they write a story about them if they aren’t real, right?   I believed that they were true. I always believed. Still, my mind always telling me to stop believing but my heart keeps pushing me to not.     “Do you know about Lycanthropes?”     * *   My mind was floating. I’m not in my right mind ever since Mr. Jacobs told me before I got home a while ago.   Levi and I was here in my car, following our parents who is driving in front of us, instructing the direction. We’ve been on the road within 4 hours and my face was still placed on my palm.   All of our things were in the back seat. Honestly, I am not excited. Going to our new home town is hard for me. I don’t know any people there. Now that me and Levi is new to the place, my being overprotective mode will be on its way to protect my brother to the devils.   Maybe since Levi was not a virgin anymore, I need to take him away from them. He played girls around and I hate hearing moans and groans every night when our parents were not around because of the business trips. Like hell, I used many pillows to cover my virgin ears because of those screams, I also tried to distract myself by putting some earphones but still.   That’s why I 30% hate my brother for being a player. He defeated me first by losing our virginity and I’m still stuck of being a virgin in the school even if I’m older than him.   “What are you thinking?” I was snapped in my thoughts when I fell Levi’s stares burning on my face.   “Well you know, just thinking how I will lock our new house so that I won’t hear any new moans and groans coming out to your new bimbo’s mouth.” I said in sarcasm, causing him to laugh.   “Don’t worry, I will tell them to be quiet.” He winks causing me to give him a disgusting look.   Laughing again, “But seriously, what are you thinking?” He asked again seeing his worried expression and tightened his grip on the steering wheel.   “Relax brother,” I ruffled his hair and smiled, “Do you believe in werewolves?” I asked and his grips loosen.   “Werewolves? You mean the people who are transforming into big bad dogs?” I chuckled and nodded my head.   “Well… yeah. If they are true. Why’d you asked?”   “Nothing. I just asked.”   LYCANTHROPES ARE NOT THE SAME IN ORDINARY WOLVES YOU HAVE BEEN READING ON A STORY. BOTH OF THEM ARE REAL BUT WITH DIFFERENT STRENGTH. YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT THEY ALREADY HERE WITH US, SURROUNDING OUR PLACE. THEY ARE GREAT PRETENDER, BUT POSSESSIVE.   Word of Mr. Jacobs still marked in my mind. If they’re true, then why haven’t I seen one before?   I’ve been wishing to have a mate. A person that destined to be mine forever. A person who will love me until the end. But nothing, none, nada.   LYCANTHROPES ARE SPECIAL TYPES OF WEREWOLVES, WEREWOLF IS JUST ONLY ORDINARY WHO HAD STRONG STRENGTHS BUT NOT LIKE LYCANS, WHO TRIPLED THE STRENGTH AND HAD SPECIAL POWERS LIKE CAN HEAL THEIR MATE’S WOUND IMMEDIATELY BY LICKING OR KISSING THEIR PAIN.   Okay. That’s weird. Super weird.       “Do you know Renz?”   “Why?   “He’s been asking me about you especially your number. That guy likes you so much but I don’t like him for you because he is a player.”   Woah…says the man who also a player.   “Nah…I don’t care. Did you give my number to him?” He smirked making me groan.   “Hahaha kidding! Of course I will never ever be going to give your number to the guys who just want you in their beds and to be the pleasure of their pants.” He said, making me laugh.     “Awwww. That’s so sweet of you, little bro. You know how makes my heart flutters, that’s why I love you.” I kissed his cheek, seeing his blush crept on his face.     “I love you too, sis. No one will be going to hurt you. They need to face me and kill me before they hurt you.” My heart fluttered to his words but it suddenly dropped when a words and familiar voice came to my mind, remembering the promise.     WE WILL PROTECT YOU, BABY BEAR. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH.   “Don’t promise something, if it is going to break soon.” I whispered, sighing a little.   “What?”   “Nothing, just drive Levi.”   “You’re weird.” A smile form into my mouth seeing his expression and pinch his right cheek making him groaned.   “Why do I have an older sister again?”   “Because I’m the one and only sister you have who loves to annoy you.” I smiled sweetly at him and he frowns.   “You’re a worst person in the world.” He fastened the car a little and I let out a laugh, elbowing his arm.   “But you love me.” I wink.     He sighed, “That was the problem I hated the most.”   * *   “We’re here!” I heard my mom yelled outside the car, and my eyes flew opened seeing the unfamiliar sight around me.   I saw my mom squealing like a teenage girl beside my dad who keeps smiling at her. Awww… they really loved each other so much. I’m jealous.   “You know, if you keep staring to the old couples who are making me want to throw up because of the sight, I prefer going out of the car to tour the town.” My brother said, grinning widely at me. Slapping his face lightly, I unbuckled my seatbelt and glare.   “You owes me milkshake last week, buy me some food for payment.” I glared, pointing my index finger to him before moving out to the car.   I heard him groan inside makes my smile widened. The air hit my skin making me shiver of how cold it was.   Inhaling the fresh air, the trees that surrounding the place were dancing because of the wind and houses were built in front of it. The roads are clean. The town was quiet that all you can hear are the birds singing melody to your ears.   “Welcome to Poris Town, my dear. The place where me and your dad grew up.” I heard my mom said besides me, causing me to jerk out in surprise.   What? They grew up here? Why haven’t I known it?     “You’re maybe thinking why we didn’t tell you, right? It is because we haven’t told you about this because of something that you will find out soon.” She grins, “We want to surprise you and Levi because this place was amazing and full of MYSTERY.” Dad winked wrapping his hands on my mother’s shoulder.   “What do you mean?”   “Just keep your eyes and ears open, Lyra. They are good.” What?   They are?   “I don’t understand. What are you talking about?” I looked to my mom who just shrugged her shoulder at me.   “You will find out soon, dear. Just keep your eyes and ears open.” She smiled at me again leaving me in wonder, before walking away with dad.   Okay?   Shaking my head, I just drop the subject and memorize the place. The place was old. The place was almost surrounded by trees.   Maybe the owner of this place loved the nature. So they planted many trees to have a wonderful place to imagine while you are bored and helping the surrounding to give a fresh air.   “Lyra!” I heard my brother called me from my back and I looked towards him with my brow up.       “What?”   “Woah… chill. Just going to ask if you want to take a walk to find a better place to grab something to eat, yeah?” Rolling my eyes, I look to our parents who are talking to people I don’t recognize which I think they have been knew each other before because of how happy they are to see them.       I jogged to their direction and cough to get their attention. All of them look at me and a blush rush through my cheeks.     “By the way, Rowena. This is my daughter, Lyra and the boy who is in there was Levi.” Mom pointed the direction where Levi who is busy talking to his phone.   I wonder who’s that person he talking with?   “What a great gene, Chloe. What an extraordinary beauty of your decent girl. So fresh.” The brown haired woman says, shocking me when she hugs me like she knew me before.   “Hello.” I said, which almost whisper and she laugh.   “I’m Rowena Woods and this is my ma-I mean husband, Colton Woods.” She pointed her husband who is smiling politely at me, extending his hand for a shake.     “It’s good to meet the daughter of my best friend.” He smiled.   “Nice meeting you too, Mr. Woods.”   “Just call me, Colton. Mr. Woods is too formal to my liking.” I shaked his hands.   This is weird. Best friends? I don’t know about that.     The truth is, these people are good looking person. Rowena is a breath taking woman, same with his husband. She has a brown hair, blue eye, and a sharp nose which it perfect for a woman like her. His husband, Colton, has a black hair and grayish-green eyes added the pointed nose and perfect jaw line making him looks like a teenage boy who can attract girls and crawl on his feet.   “Why don’t you all come with us to grab something to eat? I know you all are starving because of how long you drove from here.” Rowena offered.   “Yeah that’s good. We can also catch up to know the other details we missed.” Mom agreed, looking to me if I was.   Shaking my head, “I’m sorry but Levi and I decided to take a walk around. He also owes me a meal, so we’re going to find a place to grab some foods.” I said, giving them my apologetic look especially to Rowena.   “It’s okay, dear. Have fun, okay? Be careful also.” They waved at me and I walk towards Levi who still talking to his phone.   “What the hell? There is nothing between us. We have s*x and that’s all. Can you please stop calling me? You’re annoying me!” Levi brushed his hands on his brown hair, pulling them a little in annoyance.   Grabbing his phone, I glare at him before speaking, “Whoever you are, stay away from my brother before I pop your fake boobs when I return back there. You got me?” I ended the call and narrowed my eyes at him.   “Thanks.”   “Thanks your ass. This is what I’ve been telling you, Levi. Stop playing girls around. They will make grudge about you and hate you until they found the right man who will beat your ass. You don’t want to break that pretty face of yours, am I right? So stop.” I placed my both hands of his shoulder, smiling a little to my brother.   “I am sorry, Lyra. I’ll try my best to ignore it. I just can’t help it. s*x is my life. I’m craving it.” I ruffled his head but in the same time, scrunch up my nose in disgust.   “Boys are like that, Levi. They craved s*x because that was the only pleasure that they can give to their bodies just like yours. But keep some limit, dimwit. Keep some limit.” I narrowed my eyes, he chuckles and wrapped his hands on my shoulder pulling me to his side.   “Fine. But I won’t promise you to not hit girls every day. I loved them.” I hit his stomach, causing him to let out an ‘oof’. “Well, I love you more than them. I respect you.” He kissed my hair, I wrap my hands on his waist for a hug.       “You better be. But seriously, if you won’t stop hitting girls, I’ll rip your balls so that you can’t f**k and make children in the future. I will also show to your future wife the evidence when the time comes.” I smirked, looking at him as he gulps.   “You’re really a violent woman. I want to have children in the future. Don’t take it away from me.” He pouts.   “Aww...don’t worry, cutie s*x god. I want to see my nephew someday yelling ‘Daddy’ from you and calling me their Aunt.” He grinned and tightened his grip on my shoulder.   Every family needs an older sister and brother. They’re the only person you can trust but sometimes they aren’t lucky to have one or having a good one, but I’m thanking to have a brother like him for loving me so much.   Levi is my dairy. I’m his diary. We shared our secrets, helping each other, and placing the missing puzzle love that we have been looking when our parents are gone for work.   I loved this. But I hope, soon, I will find the perfect man who will also give me the better love than this.
