Suddenly, Daniel looked up in her direction. Though the distance was too great for him to see her, Narnia instinctively avoided his gaze, sidestepping to hide.
Turning her head, she saw Jurassic's frail figure trembling slightly, his facial expression extremely unnatural. It was clear to Narnia; he was afraid of Daniel.
When Daniel arrived, Narnia had already hidden herself in the closet early on, different from before, she didn't dare to make a sound, holding her breath and curling up in a corner, not daring to move at all.
This was because Daniel was incredibly perceptive. Narnia was certain that if she made the slightest noise, he would discover her and drag her out on the spot.
After arriving, Daniel didn't say much to Jurassic, just casually picked up a piano score, flipped a page, and asked Jurassic to play it for him.
Narnia was shocked upon hearing the introduction—Daniel, this maniac, was making a 12-year-old child play Beethoven's Pathétique!
Narnia had heard Jurassic play before. He was not yet proficient and played hesitantly, but at least he could play it through. Obviously, this performance did not satisfy Daniel.Narnia originally thought that Jurassic would at most be verbally abused by Daniel, but unexpectedly, Daniel would go as far as to physically assault him, slapping Jurassic across the face! Hearing that sound, Narnia could imagine just how painful it was!
Fists unconsciously clenched, Narnia bit her teeth tightly, controlling herself to not make a sound.
"Waste!"
After leaving those words behind, Daniel walked away without looking back, slamming the door shut with a loud "bang".
Then, Narnia heard Daniel ordering Philita not to bring food to Jurassic for the day, tightening her fists even more!
Is this guy a psychopath? Starving his own son and not allowing him to eat for a day? The child is still growing!
It wasn't until the footsteps faded away that Narnia came out of the closet. She saw Jurassic still sitting on the chair, repeatedly going over this sorrowful piece.
Narnia walked over to him, and seeing him with his head down, silently not saying a word, she wanted to tell him to stop playing, but the hand she stretched out stopped midway and then retracted.
Narnia just sat down on the spot, saying nothing, asking nothing, just accompanying him.
Whenever he finished playing, she would get up.
As expected, Philita did not bring any food over for the whole day. Narnia could bear being hungry for a day, but it was not okay for Jurassic not to eat.
Thus, at night, while everyone was asleep, Narnia sneaked into the kitchen to look for food.
The only edible things were bread and baguettes, from which Narnia took some, along with two cans of milk.
It started raining outside, pouring heavily, accompanied by loud thunder. While Narnia was walking back, she suddenly heard a woman's shrill scream!
Narnia stopped in her tracks, recognizing the voice as coming from Gilead, Jurassic's mother's room...
The closer Narnia walked back, the clearer the sound became, accompanied by the woman's heart-wrenching screams, the sound of things being smashed, followed by the woman's painful sobs and moans, among other muffled noises.
Narnia's clenched fists showed protruding veins, Daniel, that madman, was r****g his wife.
Then, Narnia looked up to see at the end of the corridor, a thin figure standing still, just as a flash of lightning passed by, in the darkness, Jurassic stood motionless.
He heard...
Narnia's gaze suddenly became determined, she stepped forward, picked him up, and ran to the room!
After closing the door, Narnia put him down and then covered his ears, while all along, Jurassic's face was expressionless, his gaze empty.
Narnia looked at him, her gaze firm, "Jurassic, listen to me, everyone has their own choices, and everyone must pay the price for their choices. Life is the same, it's their life, not yours, so don't think too much. Many things have nothing to do with you, and there are things that you shouldn't know right now."
Jurassic still had no reaction, Narnia hugged him tightly, gently patting his back, "Don't be afraid, I'm here, I will stay with you."
"Will you really stay with me forever?" Jurassic suddenly asked.Content is blockedNarnia paused for a moment, unsure of what to say, but at that moment, all Narnia could offer was that promise, nodding, "Yes, I will."
Jurassic fell asleep holding Narnia's hand, watching the child frown in his sleep, Narnia sighed, wondering what to do with him.
If she left, could he take care of himself alone?
Narnia didn't sleep all night. At seven-thirty in the morning, she heard the sound of a sports car engine and went to the window to see Daniel driving away.
Jurassic woke up a bit late today, at eight, but he still insisted on running every day. Jurassic's self-discipline made Narnia worry-free. Who wouldn't like such a diligent apprentice?
While he was out running, Narnia stretched and was about to squint for a while when suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching.
Narnia cast a wary glance at the door and without a word, hid in the wardrobe.
The moment she hid in the wardrobe, the door was pushed open. Through the c***k of the door, Narnia saw a woman in a nightgown, with disheveled hair, walking in.
She had injuries on her neck and arms, blood on the corner of her mouth, and multiple bruises on her face. She looked almost like a crazed lunatic with a fruit knife in hand, her face twisted in ferocity.
It was Gilead!
Gilead stumbled in, ferociously scanning the room as if looking for someone. Not finding anyone, she vented her anger by knocking all the books off the shelf, hysterically screaming, and finally, with the fruit knife, she pounced on Jurassic's bed, crazily slashing the pillow!
In her eyes, it was as if it wasn't a pillow she was cutting, but a living person, slashing it madly.
"Enough!"
Narnia grabbed her wrist, stopping her actions. Gilead stiffened, her entire demeanor defeated as she turned to look at Narnia.
Narnia frowned slightly and without a word, knocked her out.
Gilead passed out, and Narnia caught her, then lifted her up by the waist. Gilead was lighter than Narnia had imagined, weighing less than ninety pounds, very thin.
To prevent Jurassic from coming back and seeing this scene, Narnia carried Gilead back to her room.
Upon entering the room, Narnia couldn't bear to look, a complete mess, the scene was unbearable to witness, with blood on the sheets, and in total disarray. Narnia glanced at Gilead in her arms, the beauty like a shattered porcelain doll, fragile to touch.
One could only imagine what she had gone through last night.
Narnia couldn't help but curse Daniel's ancestors in her heart!
There were clean sheets and quilts in the cupboard. Risking being discovered, Narnia made Gilead comfortable before returning to Jurassic's room.
Before Jurassic came back, Narnia cleaned up the room, not letting Jurassic notice anything.
There wasn't much Narnia could do, she could only protect him as much as she could, hoping to spare his childhood from bad memories...Content is blocked
When Daniel returned, Narnia was hiding in Jurassic's room.
Peering down through a c***k in the window, the first thing that caught her eye was several vintage cars from the last century, with a Lamborghini Miura sports car in the middle. This model, released in 1967 and mass-produced worldwide, proved Daniel was indeed a wealthy man!
A dozen bodyguards in black lined up in a row. This scene reminded Narnia of a mafia movie. As a young person in modern society, she couldn't help but criticize internally: Is this a movie set? Such extravagance?
Later, Narnia witnessed similar grand scenes around Jurassic. However, she didn't find them exaggerated at all. It might sound double-standard, but for a big shot like Jurassic, only this level of arrangement was fitting!
Of course, this was a story for another time.
As Narnia guessed, Daniel looked very much like Jurassic in his adulthood, the only difference being their personalities and aura—one gentle and refined, the other dark and fierce.
From his first appearance, Daniel gave off a villainous vibe, emotionless and with a piercing gaze, calling him a tyrant wouldn't be an overstatement—he was the type to fly into a rage and beat people.
