That same afternoon at precisely 3 PM, Mrs. Sophia and her daughter Harper came around. Upon entering the house, Mrs. Emily welcomed them and led them to the sitting room.
"Please, what can I offer you?" Mrs. Emily asked.
Mrs. Sophia replied, "A cup of juice will be fine," and Harper requested the same.
Mrs. Emily called out, "Greg! Greg, please help me get three glasses of juice." Mr. Greg promptly brought three glasses of orange juice.
As they started drinking, Claire came out of her room. Upon meeting Mrs. Sophia, she said, "Good day, ma'am."
Mrs. Sophia replied, "How are you doing?"
Claire responded, "I'm fine, thank you," and welcomed her to Vinca Vante. Mrs. Emily had told her friend a lot about Claire, and she was happy to finally meet her. Claire also greeted Harper.
At this point, Claire and Harper left Mrs. Emily and her friend. They both sat in the same chair in the sitting room. Mrs. Emily got lost in the TV show she was watching, prompting her friend to say, "So, I came all the way to your house just for you to start watching a TV show?"
Mrs. Emily shrugged and quickly turned off the TV. They began to converse. "I am so happy my niece relocated from Fintown to Vinca Vante," Mrs. Emily said. "I feel she would do better here, especially since she has me here."
They both laughed. "That's true, Vinca Vante is a great place for a great person like Claire. So, how is she going to get a job?" Mrs. Sophia asked.
"I spoke with my friend, the Chief Forensic Officer at a forensic company named Forensic Frontiers Initiative. I told him my niece was coming to town and would love to work at his company since she is qualified and needs a job to start. He assured me that he would speak with HR and try to find her a position," Mrs. Emily explained.
"Wow, that's great! If she gets it, it will be very good, especially since she studied forensic science in college," Mrs. Sophia responded. "I'm thrilled to announce that I was able to secure a position for Harper in my uncle's tech company as a cybersecurity expert."
With eyes widened in joy and amazement, Mrs. Emily expressed how happy she was for Harper. "I know her dad will be so happy. How is he doing?" she asked.
"He's doing great. You know, he never wanted her to study cybersecurity; he wanted her to go for law instead. But she went for what she wanted, all thanks to God," Mrs. Sophia replied. "Enough about me. Tell me, how are you doing? How is Mikey? How is business? I mean, how is everything?"
"Mikey is fine. Business is also doing well, just that I have a lot of meetings to attend this week. I wish I could skip some, but that's not possible. I own a significant amount of shares in these companies and can't take chances," Mrs. Emily explained.
Meanwhile, Claire and Harper were getting along well. Claire was a very reserved person, while Harper was jovial and initiated most of their discussions.
"Claire, can you tell me about your college experience? Mine was really great, and I'd like to know about yours," Harper said.
"Hmmm," sighed Claire. "College was not too bad. It was okay. The lectures, the constant study, and the friends I made are something I can't forget. Although I no longer connect with some of them due to various reasons—some of them changed locations, and it's kind of hard to relate as we did during college days. Lastly, I thank God I made good grades because it would have been disastrous if I didn't. I put a lot of time into studying my books."
"Wow, this is awesome. Seems like you're the opposite of me," said Harper. "During my college days, it was fun with lots and lots of parties. I can't forget this one night we went to a friend's birthday party. It was so memorable. We played truth or dare, and if you couldn't follow the terms, you had to drink a glass of alcohol. I drank so much that I got tipsy and couldn't stand. How I saw myself on my bed was a mystery. I asked my friends, and they told me that Chris, my crush at the time, had taken me home."
"How does getting drunk feel?" Claire asked.
"I don't know. I couldn't feel myself," Harper replied, and they both laughed.
As they laughed, Mrs. Sophia's voice called out, saying they needed to go home. It was the wrong time for the girls, but they couldn't help it. They exchanged contact information and went to meet Mrs. Emily and her friend. They all moved outside the house as Mrs. Sophia and Harper entered their car and waved goodbye.
Relationships are priceless. Mrs. Emily and Mrs. Sophia had been friends for a long time, and now their friendship was extending to Claire and Harper.
Claire wanted to get a job but wasn't really sure about what she wanted. However, considering her specialization in forensic science and her love for the field, she strongly believed that getting a job as a forensic detective would be awesome.
As she kept thinking, a call came through to Mrs. Emily, informing her that Claire should forward her email because she had been appointed as a forensic detective. It was great news, and she quickly called on Claire to announce it. "Claire, guess what?"
Claire replied, "Aunty, you know I'm not good at guessing. Please, let the cat out of the bag."
Finally, with joy, Mrs. Emily disclosed, "You have been appointed as a forensic detective at Forensic Frontiers Initiative."
Upon hearing the news, Claire couldn't hold back her joy. She leaped with excitement, as her thoughts had aligned perfectly with reality.
That night, Claire was so happy that she couldn't sleep. She kept thinking of how her new job was going to be. Claire thought, "I haven't worked before. I hope the environment is a great one for me." All these thoughts were coming because she was nervous.
As she continued thinking, she received a mail from her new office (Forensic Frontiers Initiative) to resume work the next Monday. At this point, she got more nervous. She ran to her aunt. "Aunty, I received a mail that I should resume on Monday." Her aunt was thrilled as this was happening all so fast.
"It's all good. I hope you will be able to put everything in place so that you can resume on Monday," Aunty Emily asked. Claire replied, "Yes, I can, just that I'm kind of nervous." Her aunty laughed and said, "Everyone in your shoes would be nervous. Getting into a new environment, getting to meet new people, and trying to adapt has its own intricacies, but you will be fine. Come here."
Claire came closer, and they had a warm hug. Mickey saw this happy moment and also ran to hug both of them together.
