Chapter 7

919 Words
As Bridget got in her car to drive home she was overwhelmed with the amount of questions she now had- What was the light she saw around her best friend? Was there a significance in the pink cord? Why had she not seen, heard or felt anything else since Heather first opened that door? As she got on the interstate to get home, her mind drifted as she pondered all the recent events . Suddenly out of nowhere a figure appeared next to her in her car!! Bridget screamed and swerved as the car headed towards a ditch. Suddenly- as if by magic- the car righted itself and straightened in the lane. Bridget glanced towards the figure and saw a middle aged woman staring back at her. "You needn't worry about the car child, it will drive itself to its destination- you and I need to talk." she sat amidst the things on seat next to Bridget as if she didn't notice them. "What- how is this happening? What is going on? Am I going crazy? Is this all happening inside my mind?" Bridget cried. The older woman looked at her with a smile on her face and said, "Just because it is happening in your mind child does not mean you're going crazy.. now come with me we have places to be and things to discuss." She took Bridget's hand and Bridget felt a tear as if something were being ripped away from her body. Their spirits soar together away from the moving car. They ended in a quiet forest bathed by moonlight. The older woman stared at Bridget with a slight smile on her face. Moonlight filtered through the trees and bounced off the woman's pale complexion. Her long red hair flowed in wavy lengths almost to her knees. Her bright green eyes sparkled with energy. Bridget stared back at her with all the questions in her own eyes. "Please, you must tell me what is going on I truly think I am losing my mind." Bridget begged with tears in her eyes. "I'm about to explain everything sweet child please give me the time," the woman smiled and began "first, let me introduce myself, I am Ezzy. I will tell you my true name in good time, your name holds great power and you should be careful with it." Bridget's eyes widened and Ezzy chuckled, "don't worry child, Bridget is just a nickname.. you'll find your true name soon.. let me begin with what has happened to you. You have Awoken. Your powers are going to get stronger very quickly now that you have found your Soulsister.." Bridget stared back at Ezzy.. "Soulsister? Powers? My true name? I'm sorry Ezzy but what the hell are you talking about?" Ezzy rolled her eyes. "This is ridiculous. Here, let's simplify this.." As she stepped forward and took Bridget's hand, a bright green glow surrounded her. Bridget's eyes widened as her head snapped up, her eyes losing focus as all the answers she sought came in a rush.. Her powers had Awakened. She was now able to see and feel the energies around her. And use them. The acceptance of Shane, that he needed her had awakened her Empathy. The levels of ecstasy he had taken her to had broken the bounds she had put around her powers, simply by not knowing they were there. Now she would be able to channel the energies around her, direct them in ways she would learn soon, from Ezzy. Shane was her Soulsworn. The gold line she had Seen represented that bond. Different than a soulmate, as your soul can meet many over time, a Soulsworn was the ultimate bond. Their energies bonded seamlessly to create a power far greater than a mere two combined. The only problem they would face was that Shane hadn't completely Awakened. Well, that and they weren't actually together.. Soulsister. Heather, her best friend, whom she often referred to as the "sister of her soul" (ironically enough) was hers. The faint pink line she had seen signified this bond. And the golden light that showed faintly around her best friend showed her powers were incredibly strong since she hadn't even begun to Awaken. The Soulsister bond was more common than the Soulsworn, but still incredibly special. Together, they would possess a great power to heal. Everything. From earth energies to life energies, they could help with it all. The need for Heather to Awaken was even greater than Shane's. Something huge was coming, something that would require this bond, urgently. Soulsister, Heather. Soulsworn, Shane. Her heart ached as she thought of him. **But we aren't together!! How can we be Soulsworn?** she thought as tears built up for the first time in a day. "Don't cry child," Ezzy said softly. "He IS your Soulsworn. Don't doubt it. It will work out soon. If you weren't so stubborn, you could have worked it out that night." Bridget forced herself to take a deep breath. She needed to be calm, she sensed there was a lot more Ezzy needed to instruct her in. After she had steadied her nerves, Bridget met Ezzy's expectant eyes. "Ready for the next lesson child?" Ezzy questioned softly as the green glow again surrounded her. Bridget nodded cautiously, she doubted that one could actually feel ready for a "lesson" as Ezzy called it. The rush of knowledge was very intense and powerful but Bridget knew that Ezzy wouldn't give her more than she could process at once. Ezzy stepped forward and took Bridget's hand. It began again...
