CHAPTER TWENTY NINE MELINDA'S POV "You're thinking about your family," Kieran said. It wasn't a question. "How did you know?" "Your face changes when you think about them. Gets this tight look around your mouth." He set down his glass. "When was the last time you talked to them?" "I haven't. Not since the wedding." The admission came out before I could stop it. "I've tried calling but they don't pick up." "They're avoiding you." "Probably." I stood up, grabbing my plate even though I'd barely eaten half. "I should clean up." "Leave it. The staff will handle it." "I made the mess. I should clean it up." "Melinda." His voice stopped me at the door. "You did well tonight. The dinner was excellent. Thank you."
