THE EVIL MONKEY

311 Words
There were two sparrows who found a nice, big tree and made their nest on a branch. They were happy to live there. Winter came soon, and it rained heavily. It was windy and it made the cold worse for all the birds and animals. They were all miserable. One rainy day, a cold and shivering monkey came to the tree for shelter. He was completely wet from the pouring rain. The female sparrow felt sorry for the monkey. 'Friend, your feet and hands are like a human being,' she said. "Why don't you build a house for yourself like they do?' The monkey was unhappy at being so wet, and had not even asked the sparrow for help or advice. Thus, he became very angry with her. 'You silly bird!" he shouted. "Why don't you keep quiet and take care of yourself rather than giving me advice?' The female sparrow felt hurt, but still said gently, 'I can help you if you want.' "The sparrow is very rude!' the annoyed monkey thought. 'I must teach her a lesson. Maybe I should kill her.' 'Why are you so worried about my condition?" asked the monkey turning to the female sparrow. 'Haven't you heard the saying that you should offer advice only to those who ask for it and value it?' But the sparrow went on talking adamantly. When she did this, the monkey climbed up the tree and destroyed her nest. "That's why, you should be careful in offering advice,' said Karataka to Damanaka. You are foolish and do not understand the true meaning of my advice. Where wise men follow good advice and gain proper benefits, fools ignore it and perish. It's clear to me that you haven't heard the story where a father was killed by smoke due to his son's thoughtlessness.' 'Let us hear it then,' said Damanaka.
