She let herself go limb so that he could carry her easily to the car. Chris noticed us coming and rushed to our side to open the door. The audience they had were clapping and she covered her face in shame, it was so hilarious.
"You wait for me you little wimp, I get to you in a bit," he announced disappearing.
Chris stood waiting for him, and after a while, he was back with her crutches, she knew exactly where the man had been.
"Thank you for bringing my adorable babies to me, how would I have walked home?" she demanded throwing my head behind in fear.
Adrian wasn't finding the whole of this issue funny, he dreaded it so much, and so did she. Chris returned to the car to open it, and ignite it, he stared behind to ask his Master where he was to drive to. He was too agitated this evening so she said cheerfully from behind,
"Please Chris, take me to my house," I pleaded.
She cleaned her eyes with the back of her hand. Adrian handed her a tissue as if reading her mind. She mouthed a heartfelt, "Thank you, dear,"
He answered with a nod, and looking at Chris, he gave him an accurate answer.
He was not too wealthy but he was established in his little way and given the fact that he did not give up on her, made Jessica realize that a man was always going to be a man.
Adrian had kept his calm throughout the scenario and did not do anything rash to her except for the fact that he let his weakness get over him and that was his anger issues but he had understood the kind of woman he was involved with and knew that she could not be easily walked on, he admired the Jessica that he had always known from years back.
"Please Chris, do you mind taking us to a phone shop in town? a good one that sells expensive phones," he asked.
She saw Chris contemplating whether he could place his mind on any, after a while he said,
"Yes, Sir, there is one a few meters away from here, should we go there?" he asked.
"If it sells quality stuff then you are free to steam your engine already," he let out.
She loved his swag, Adrian had this way of talking to people that made him think he should be placed as a demi-god. The way he listened patiently to his driver to suggestionsions made him so classic, she admired that, and maybe that was the most reason why he was acclaimed not only in Cameroon but also worldwide, he was known as the Boss of the people.
"No Chris, do not move this car, take me home now," Jessica shouted. She was a drama queen and to think that she did all that just to spike him up so that he will keep on being angry, made Adrian's blood boil.
She was probably just seeking notice, Chris stirred at her with wide eyes, he thought she had hit her head on a stone or something. He directed his attention to his boss, and after receiving the gaze of his life, he ignited the car and started in the opposite direction, totally different from the one they took when coming here.
In a typical mocking tone, Adrian murmured provocatively,
"He who pays the Piper dictates the tone,"
There was no doubt that she had lost this round, but she was eager in winning the rest, yes, she so much wanted to.
"Back to our unfinished business, Jessica," he let out.
She was in confusion, she did not even know what he was talking about.
"Huh? What unfinished business?" she asked in a state of total confusion.
He turn to place his shining eyes on her, she drifted her eyes from him. She did not want him to see the fear in her eyes.
"Please, can I see the money with wish you intended to pay the taxi driver with it?" he questioned one more time.
She knew there was a fire on the mountain and she wondered why he was so concerned ln emphasizing this issue. She gulped, trying to avert my eyes from his. He was a very sharp man, his actions were so rapid that they grabbed her chin before she could move an inch.
"Now Barbie, will you be capable of staring in the eyes and lying?" he demanded.
She found it difficult with this closeness of ours, it was too complicated for me to even breathe, and inhaling was a tough task for it was too difficult.
"No, there is no point lying to you, I guess you aren't worth it," she sighed.
Wooooow! That was the hardest thing to say it was too bad on her part to say that.
She could swear that she heard Chris Chuckle, yes, he laughed, he had probably taken Adrian and Jessica as clowns, they served as a source of entertainment to him.
"Can you... show me the money then?" he inquired.
She knew that Adrian is not going to let her be till she responded to his question, yes, he would not, so she prepared a hard answer for him, something that it would be so difficult for him to gulp the truth.
"I wasn't planning on paying any taxi driver because I wasn't planning to take a taxi," she blurted out arrogantly.
He tested the weight of my sentence, then asked in a subtle voice,
"How then were you going to get home when you had no money, or did you plan all these little acts of yours?" he inquired.
She was aware he was getting angry ready, she had to answer his question fast, and with immediate effect.
"No, no, no, I wouldn't risk wounding myself for any of the pranks like I said, you aren't worth it, so just let it go.
By the way, I was planning on taking a bike. With these bike riders, they are easy-going, and you know, I have a choice to either pay in cash or kind," she spat out.
"What was that?" he spoke out.
After the words had penetrated his mind, he widened his eyes understanding the weight of my sentence.
"Holy s**t! you disgust me, Jessica," he sighed.
She felt like crying, she had the urge to tell him that she was lying and that she only wanted to say it and did not mean It. Guess it was too late now and as usual, her over-talking had landed her into serious problems. That was one of her greatest problems, talking too much.
