"Yes, is there any problem with that?" he asked with concern.
She nodded, affirming that there was a problem, I wanted to know at once what the issue was all about.
"And, what is that problem, you can talk about it, I will solve it if it is something I can do," he replied.
"The issue is, I have never been to Limbe, not even once; I know that is shameful on my part since it is just an hour's journey to the place. Even if I go there, I don't know anybody there nor do I have a place to sleep. Lastly, I do not think a will allow me to go with you," Jessica poured out her heart's content to me.
Adrian tasted the truth in her words and it made a lot of sense to him, it was not her fault that she had not been there before.
He weighed every one of her complaints and came up with suitable solutions for their problems.
"I think you do not need to know the place before you accept it, you just need to be willing to go there, then we would go together. Mom has many rooms in her house, and you can sleep in any of them; by the way, you are going to be her guest, and she wouldn't even accept that you sleep out of the house or in a hotel, she will always want to see you around her so she can bug your life with her so many questions," he explained.
He did not say these things to chase her away or have a negative mindset about his mom, rather, he was presenting the bare facts to her as they were, it was now her choice if she accepts to believe it or not, and more if she wants to go or not.
The solutions he gave were quite helpful, yet did not stop Jessica from asking another question, the one I seemed not to have answered her.
"What about my mom?" she exclaimed frustratingly. She was liking the idea of going with him but at the same time, her whole significance was attached to her mom and she did not want to get her angry.
"What about her?" he asked confused.
"How do we convince her about letting me follow you?" she questioned.
Adrian felt happy as he saw that his words were already bearing fruits in Jessica's mind, she seemed like she was already interested to start the journey now, whereas we had about a week to go about it.
"I do not think we need to convince her about anything, you will tell her that my mom has invited you over to her house next weekend," he explained.
She seemed dissatisfied with his response, it looked like she expected more, so I added,
"What do you want Jessica pie?" the cute pet name he used made her laugh.
"Nothing much, I thought you were supposed to have accompanied me to see her so that she should know I am not lying__ though I do not always lie to her (all the time__ at least if she sees you if your presence is felt, mom shall no doubt allow me to go with you to Limbe," she noted.
He understood where she was driving to, and immediately accepted it.
"Alright, lady, I will do as you say, I will accompany you to your house and together, we will ask permission from your mom," he let out.
It made Jessica happy, and he was delighted about how our little gestures could move mountains for others.
"So, are we good now?" he asked staring at her with a toothy smile.
"Nope, not yet," she replied usurping the smile from my face.
"Why cupcake, did I do something to you?" I demanded confusedly.
Her reply was negative putting me in the highest state of confusion.
"No, Adrian, you've not done anything to me," she replied.
"What then is the issue?" he asked leaning towards the table for support.
He needed to hear what she had to say closely, it mattered a lot to me.
Jessica heaved a sigh, and withdrawing her eyes from mine she looked towards the environment, just filling herself with the view of nature.
For once, he looked at his environment to admire it too, he enjoyed its sight, it was pleasant, with the trees blowing fresh wind to my smooth skin. When she hesitated to reply, I called out.
"Jessica pie? please can you look at me?" he demanded.
He felt Jessica grind her teeth and behave like it was the most dangerous task he had asked her to do. She obeyed anyways and looked at me, but her eyes were closed.
"Oh no! When I thought I had almost conquered her attention, she brings another task for me to accomplish,"
For her, this was a joke to her, a sour means of entertainment, she loved punishing me that was why she did her best to always make me undergo too much stress before succeeding.
He had a sweet idea that would make her open her eyes in less than thirty seconds, he decided to go for it then.
"Vanilla? no too extreme, what about butterflies? sounds cool (I said to myself but audibly so that She could partake of my sweet tongue too)"
Her eyes were still closed but she had fine wrinkles on her face which were a result that she was suppressing her laughter.
"Sugar bunch, honey bear, sweetie pie, coffee bug, angel..."
Before he finished naming all the pretty pet names that he had in my head, he had succeeded in causing Megan to erupt with laughter.
Her eyes were opened too as she gazed at me with amazement.
"Oh, my God! I cannot believe you succeeded in making me laugh to the extent of opening my eyes, I was so amazed by that, Kudos! I love all those pet names," she cheered.
He knew that Jessica would love it, with her, it was going to be so easy to trick her, like just telling her some sweet words, and allowing her to do your bindings.
Wondering how easy it was to find your way to her honey pot, the sweet mount Venus that rested between her legs, he needed to know that too, my curiosity was having the best of me.
He slapped me mentally for having my brain drawn away in that direction.
"Yippie! I won, what is my prize, therefore?" he questioned beaming happily.
"Well, I have no choice but to answer your question now, I think you merit it, you did well in making me laugh, you did so well Adrian, I can assure you that," she let out.
They both smiled happily.
Gael and his friend were catching up for the lost time and though it was weird, men seem to bond faster than women. They were talking about everything and nothing and just like that, he had forgotten tag he was even at work. Questioning his friend and asking who the lucky lady in his life is, Gael categorically smiled at him and said,
"It is a long story."
"You can narrate it I have all time," he muttered again while keeping his gaze on the road. Yes, he has the time but Gael did not have that and from all indications, he was running out of time, and with the fear of keeping Yvonne waiting for too long, he decided to suggest to his friend by saying that they were going to have that conversation some other day and he was going to tell him all about it.
Gael was a sly guy and he knew better than say his things anyhow. He continuously kept on checking his wristwatch, hoping not to go be late for his appointment but the traffic that was on the road at that time was crazy so his friend decided that they will take a shortcut to reach his destination.
Yvonne, on the other hand, was seriously waiting for him and counting the minutes, she was getting impatient as time was passing by but Gael was nowhere to be found.
Glenn walked for a few seconds and with a sorrowful countenance, she plunged back to the flashbacks of her mother's happy moments.
"I do not know whether that cough is caused as a result of my question, but please, just endeavor to answer it might save us from some trouble," she mumbled.
Jessica could not understand why Adrian will start coughing immediately after giving attention to her question, it was so heart-wrenching, she would even get mad at him for filling all those stuff in his mom's head and making her think she was attracted to him in that kind of way. Having lost her purity, she did not want anything that could be of offense to her or her partner so she needed to be certain of the things she was doing before opening her mouth to narrate everything that had taken place.
Adrian's silence was even more disheartening, she felt like collapsing after he couldn't offer a word to her.
"Please respond to me, I do not want us to deceive your mom into believing that we are In a relationship whereas we are not. So tell me, do you think I can be good for a relationship with you?" Jessica questioned hitting the table lightly pulling his attention.
His mood immediately changed, his face grew angry as his eyes squinted, she saw a twinge of annoyance in those big white eyes, they seemed menacing.
In a huge voice, a husky one at that, he said threateningly,
"You little wimp, you shut the f**k up, the fact that I talk to you does not give you any right to take things to a higher level up to the extent of hitting the table in my presence. Let this be clear for you that the next time you do such a thing, I wouldn't take it lightly on you," he threatened.
