Everything was going in an awkward direction and while Gael was doing his best to make everything work, some little circumstances were stopping it from going forward.
Gael was getting late for his appointment, when his mom, called for him to come inside her room as she had something to discuss with him. His whole body became weak while his thoughts got dispersed wondering why she will ask that he come into her room.
Generally, she won't like that and each time she uttered such words, he knew that he was in some deep s**t. He went inside her room and she gave him a seat on her bed while taking a deep breath in and out with her lips getting ready. say whatever she had on her mind.
Everything seemed calm till Mom Flora asked,
"Why hasn't Yvonne come to visit me even after giving attention to the fact that I was sick and hospitalized?" Her query was very clear but Gael did not have an answer for her as it was his fault if things were like that. He had not seen Yvonne the day that he went to find her and even after seeing her that day, all he had in his mind was to sign the deal he had with her and to leave her office.
He had categorically forgotten about her request to meet Yvonne and deep down in him, he was aware of the fact that she was going to follow him home if she had a clue about that. Swallowing the lump that had molded in his throat, Gael tools his mom not to worry about it because Yvonne was not feeling too well.
He said that to refer to the incident that had taken place and though he was not good certain about what he was saying since she was much better, his mom exclaimed in fright wondering what might have gone wrong.
"I hope she did not have another accident again my dear, and please do you know where she lives?" she inquired one more time but Gael feeling all guilty and ashamed about his deal with Yvonne, brushes her question off.
He was heartbroken to see his mom wanting to see Yvonne but there was nothing he could do as he just wanted to make things right for her health and if doing that was the best way to go about it, he was going to do so without any regrets.
The discussion seemed to belong and it was solely on Yvonne, so he had to create a situation to be able to leave from there in one piece with the hopes of meeting her on time at the agreed place. Gael held his mom's hands and promised to bring Yvonne home to see her, he kissed her forehead while rising to his feet to finish his dressing before heading out. She could tell that he was hiding something from her but not being able to place her hands on it, she just sat quietly and observed him with a silence that could break the camel's back.
Yvonne was already on her way and not wanting to appear at her date without anything, she decided to get a bottle of wine at the closest supermarket before getting to the restaurant. She has h self that it was just a casual date as she needed to brief him about the pros and cons of the deal so that it might look so real to her dad but her behavior plus her address showed contrary things which made it look so funny to herself.
"You are thinking so much of him and it is not good for you Yvonne, you will end up getting hurt," she mumbled while holding her chest with her right hand and letting out some hot air from her mouth and nostrils at the same.
The night was going to be a memorable one for her and all she wished for was to have him in front of her even if it was going to be for some minutes at least just for the fine that she was going to admire what a fine piece of art he is.
Glenn was already at the airport and handed over the package to her friend. They could not have even a minute to chit-chat as her flight was almost about to leave. Sharing a tight hug, she decided to start heading back home as the cold was becoming too much for her. Walking out of the aerodromes, she entered her car and drove off in the direction of her house and Gael was already on his way and know how stressful it was to get a cab in the area where he lived, he decided to start walking a little to be able to get to a more strategic location where taxis frequent most which was the little main road at their area.
"I hope Yvonne doesn't get there before me," he mumbled with a sweaty face. Standing there for some more minutes, he could see a cab approaching and seeing how others were also waiting for that same cab to be able to get to the city, he immediately rushed and went closer to it before noticing that it was one of his friends who was the conductor.
"Yes, is there any problem with that?" he asked with concern.
She nodded, affirming that there was a problem, I wanted to know at once what the issue was all about.
"And, what is that problem, you can talk about it, I will solve it if it is something I can do," he replied.
"The issue is, I have never been to Limbe, not even once; I know that is shameful on my part since it is just an hour's journey to the place. Even if I go there, I don't know anybody there nor do I have a place to sleep. Lastly, I do not think Mama will allow me to go with you," Jessica poured out her heart's content to me.
Adrian tasted the truth in her words and it made a lot of sense to him, it was not her fault that she had not been there before.
He weighed every one of her complaints and came up with suitable solutions for their problems.
"I think you do not need to know the place before you accept it, you just need to be willing to go there, then we would go together. Mom has many rooms in her house, and you can sleep in any of them; by the way, you are going to be her guest, and she wouldn't even accept that you sleep out of the house or in a hotel, she will always want to see you around her so she can bug your life with her so many questions," he explained.
He did not say these things to chase her away or have a negative mindset about his mom, rather, he was presenting the bare facts to her as they were, it was now her choice if she accepts to believe it or not, and more if she wants to go or not.
The solutions he gave were quite helpful, yet did not stop Jessica from asking another question, the one I seemed not to have answered her.
"What about my mom?" she exclaimed frustratingly. She was liking the idea of going with him but at the same time, her whole significance was attached to her mom and she did not want to get her angry.
"What about her?" he asked confused.
"How do we convince her about letting me follow you?" she questioned.
Adrian felt happy as he saw that his words were already bearing fruits in Jessica's mind, she seemed like she was already interested to start the journey now, whereas we had about a week to go about it.
"I do not think we need to convince her about anything, you will tell her that my mom has invited you over to her house next weekend," he explained.
