The drive across town in the ‘Cuda was an exercise in patience. It was Friday afternoon traffic and people were trying to get out of the downtown area as fast as they could. Late afternoon in the downtown area is like someone from Norway trying to sunbathe unprepared in the Mojave Desert. Really a bad idea. As the traffic inched along, bumper to bumper amidst a cloud of pale blue exhaust and a cacophony of honking horns, I kept an eye on the ‘Cuda’s temperature gauge and watched it working its slow way up the scales. Never mind the futility of the car’s air conditioner. I could have fanned myself with a blow torch and cooled off faster.
