Violet POV

I watched as my parents entered the car,and drove off to a new restaurant in Savannah street, they both had gray eyes and pale skin but my mother had brown hair and my father's a blonde

they owned a publishing company, that sold and printed books both in prints and electronic form, their company was middle class and the idea of a big name working with them meant progress for the company

they looked excited at the prospect of us following them to dinner and I wondered why, especially me, mum had even insisted on choosing the clothes i wear and had chosen a deep blue short gown that had an off shoulder and showed a little bit of cleavage

it belonged to her and i felt so uncomfortable in it, she even suggested make up to which i vehemently disagreed

"do you think they have a suitor for you, cause they are acting so strange", Bella said looking at me in concern and I Literally choked on my drink

"maybe, but i doesn't matter, I'll never allow myself to be forced into marriage", i said to her

"yeah and we will kick the ass of who ever thinks of marrying you" she replied and we both laughed

but in my mind i was worried, i always knew that my parents could set me up for marriage anytime, cause they always mentioned it, but like i said i will never Allow myself to be forced into marriage

twenty minutes later, we got there and before we entered Amanda looked at us, no me and said "behave yourselves, especially you Violet don't spoil this for us"

I waved my hand in mock surrender as i discreetly winked at Bella who silently giggled

we got inside and i met two middle aged looking couple with a familiar looking young man who kept looking at me intently

"Mr and Mrs Carter, it a pleasure to meet you, how are you doing" Gary greeted with that exaggerated smile on his face, I mentally rolled my eyes

"we are so sorry we are late there was traffic on the way here" Amanda added, to which I scoffed silently, mom had insisted on making my hairstyle which had taken a while

"oh no problem, its a pleasure to meet you too, oh my, are these your daughters" the other woman said

"yes" Amanda replied with a pleased grin on her face "this is Violet our first girl and Bella our youngest girl"

"oh so pleased to meet you" the man said "I'm Dale Carter and this is my wife Kate Carter, we are so happy to see you" they both grinned and gave our parents knowing smiles

at the point i was confused

they continued "and this is our son Elijah Carter"

I didn't realized when i scoffed and gave him a glare to the horror of my parents

Elijah POV

she took my breath away the moment she came into the restaurant, she looked dazzling in her deep blue gown, in which she obviously looked uncomfortable, her mother had probably forced her to wear it

she didn't recognize me at first which pained me a little until my mom introduced me and she scoffed and glared at me to which her parents looked horrified, thankfully my parents didn't notice

we all sat down and ordered the food, her little sister looked eager to eat while, she looked bored out of her mind though my parents tried to keep up a conversation with her and she only responded in monosyllables

I grinned, how savage

"so I hear, you love to cook" my mother said grinning and Violet looked confused

"actually, no i hate cooking but my sis here loves to cook" she deadpanned and my parents looked shocked

i so wanted to laugh at their expressions

Her parents looked apologetic and said "what she meant was she Is so busy and doesn't have time to cook",

"ohh i see", Dale said smiling at her while Amanda gave her a harsh glare to which she shrugged

"the two of you are so kind, imagine raising up two foster girls and giving them a nice home and upbringing, that is just wow" Kate said beaming and I frowned at the oddness of the situation

this was supposed to be dinner between my parents and i, then halfway into the dinner they said that Mrs and mr Kai who was the owner of the publishing company that will print out our latest cooking recipe book, would be having dinner here with us and his two daughters

I mean this is supposed to be a business and formal dinner not something that is similar to a family dinner

but I'm not complaining, all day I dreaded having dinner with my parents, but now with her presence I don't mind anymore

suddenly I heard a light gasp from her, turns out she was looking at her phone and her eyes widened at something she saw

immediately she discreetly put her phone into her purse and excused herself to the toilet

I felt concerned instantly and excused myself to the bathroom also

this made our parents giggle and give each other knowing smiles

"Oh son you can go, in fact take as long as you want" Dale said in a sly manner and they all laughed, even the little girl looked confused

I looked at my parents warily, they never liked me or anyone going to the bathroom during dinner, what changed now

I ignored them and went to meet her

hmmm, seems like both parents have something planned, what is it though, plus their supposed business dinner isn't business like at all

what did Violet see on her phone that made her leave the table ??‍♀

Violet likes to keep a grudge, why can't she easily forgive Elijah
