Despite the fact that Zale’s heart had sunk low in his chest, he still managed a small smile for Krystal’s sake, clutching her hand tightly.
Her skin was extremely pale and clammy as it shone with perspiration as her breath came out in gasps. Every breath she took was accompanied with a wince and at that moment, Zale wished he could take all her pain away.
